My Niece, Lisa, and Alex will be visiting the school today to see if it will be a good fit for him. Appears to be an amazing, empowering school. One of the more important issues throughout all of this is that Alex can get a good education, while being accepted and encouraged. In any case, Lisa wants the very best for him, and his future, irrespective of ultimate gender choices.

Ah, now I understand what you meant, thanks.

But while I agree with you, cheating is selfish, I still maintain that winning is selfish, even if not obtained by cheating.

And also that Shaq was clearly playing down, and he should not have been commended or rewarded.

Back in the mid sixties in the bay area ,a friend of mine who stayed in a commune for a couple months, because he was on a, all things common journey told me the most selfish people he'd every been around were the ones in the commune.
You had those that worked hard to share, and those the skated work and expected equal share. Everyone probably knows someone that always bumped off others because were broke, didn't get their check or lost playing poker.
I had a few friends like that and I would give them shit because they conveniently didnt have any pot of their own, beer or fishing gear.

I know it's an adjustment but you might want to start referring to Alex using female pronouns. It's a small thing but would show that she is still an accepted part of your family.

Alex is still on the fence, as it were, so we'll adjust accordingly, thanks.

Shaq was playing at the highest level possible. And hence should certainly be both commended and rewarded.

Winning is technically selfish, however it's the whole point of competing. It is not detrimental to the sport, so it is encouraged.

Trans competing against women is not the point of competing, and is incredibly detrimental to women's sports (which already have enough trouble making money and generating interest). Hence, trans with male biology should be prohibited from competing against women and encouraged to compete against men.

    Very interesting.....

    https://www.cnn.com/2021/12/15/opin...deral-protection-required-williams/index.html

I'm a transgender woman in America. I shouldn't have to live in fear

(CNN) Five years ago, my wife, children and I planned an Easter week trip to Charlotte, North Carolina, to visit some of our relatives. What should have been a relatively smooth road trip from New Jersey to North Carolina, however, soon turned into a highly precarious situation.

Just a few weeks before our trip, North Carolina passed House Bill 2, which required everyone in the state to use public restrooms based on the sex assigned to them at birth. What that meant for me -- an American transgender woman -- was that I would have to break this law in order to use the women's restroom at any of the stops we visited in the state.

As we crossed the border from Virginia, my wife and I both grew uneasy. We still had several hours of interstate driving in North Carolina ahead of us. Knowing that I could be arrested if I used a women's restroom, my wife found a downloadable Google Map called "Safe Bathrooms," which the spouse of a transgender person created so other transgender people could find a safe restroom to use in a supportive, private business.

Thankfully, we found one for me to use in downtown Greensboro at a small independent bookstore. After entering the bookstore, I explained to an employee that I was transgender and would like to use the restroom. The employee graciously showed me where it was.....(CONTINUED)......

EDITOR'S NOTE: Jennifer Williams is a former New Jersey Republican Assembly candidate and was the first openly transgender delegate to the Republican National Convention in 2016. She currently serves as a member of the Conservatives Against Discrimination Leadership Council and as chair of the Trenton Zoning Board of Adjustment in New Jersey. The views expressed in this commentary are her own.

This is going to be interesting because allowing trans to compete against women is unfair to biological women, however not allowing them to compete is unfair to trans folks. If we allow this then the eventual outcome will be men's sports and not men's sports, women athletes will be phased out.

A long line of cis men declaring themselves experts on what is not fair to women.
Women have great variation in hips.
Some women are so narrow hipped they need C section to give birth.
But facts never stopped men from declaring themselves experts on female biology.
Not giving birth apparently qualifies men, in their minds, to be experts on pregnancy.
Thread is incorrectly titled. It should be "I think trans people are icky".

That'll be the day when a trans woman bears a child.

Ive avoided this thread till now because I honestly dont know what to think on this issue. Do you think this is fair competetion? To me it feels like it is not, but I dont have a horse in this race so Im fine with whatever people decide.
