He has personally carried the Bulls to the top of the East. He just hit two buzzer beating game winners in back to back nights. He is at least All NBA First Team.
I've been pushing the past few years for a Dame/DeRozan backcourt. They have the same management http://www.sportstwo.com/threads/whats-your-ideal-lineup-in-3-years.287763/#post-3682740 (Ignore 3, 4, and 5) http://www.sportstwo.com/threads/al...rade-possibilities.241339/page-4#post-3063868
I'm almost certain Dame and DeMar had talks about playing together. Blows my mind we haven't traded CJ. (not just now, but over several years). Hood was CJs future replacement until he got hurt and now it's Norm.
Hopefully Lillard hits two buzzer beaters soon, so that he can be MVP. That should improve his trade value.
It’s not just two back to back 3 point game winning buzzer beaters (which I’m not sure has ever been done before), but he has played well all year (which Dame has not done) and has his team at #1 in East ahead of preseason favorite Nets and champion Bucks. And the Bulls were awful last year. Didn’t even sniff the play-in. DeMar is MVP and it’s not close.
It hadn't been done before and DeRozan has been fantastic for the Bulls this season. The Bulls are the kind of team that everyone in here should look at for an example of what we could do around Dame. They started with the Vucevic deal and just made one cunning trade after another getting the types if players we could get in trades, sign and trades and free agency without ever really tanking (I know they got Williams with the 4th pick and White with the 7th but those guys aren't really a factor in this great season they're having) and without ever having a bunch of cap space. We just haven't had anyone ambitious enough running this team for the past decade. Hopefully we do now. That being said, if DeMar DeRozan is your MVP today at 32 then, again, I have no idea why you're trying to give up on Dame.
Are you sure you want us to look at the Bulls as an example? If we were to do like the Bulls, we would trade Dame. The first thing they did to build this current roster was to trade Jimmy Butler, their star player (who was playing at a superstar level), for Zach Lavine, Kris Dunn, and the 7th pick in the draft.
He is 13 months older than Damian but still balling. I would be leary of giving up too much for him and I don't think he is the one CHI wants to deal but I think Lillard would love him on the team.
I believe DeRozan was in Dames wedding, they workout together in the off-season, and there's other stories of them being close.
Before DeRozan went to Chicago, he would’ve fit when Hood had his Achilles problem. I liked Hood. And DeRozan is a guy Lillard has looked up to … it would’ve been nice. Now, DeRozan will be 34 this August … still a player. Simons + Knox is plenty — young scorer for older. The Knicks pick, too, to satisfy the debt. The Blazers would have the lottery pick, future picks, and Nurkic as trade ballast.
A 34 year-old mid range jumpshooter that's on the last year of his deal? Yep, easy pass. Especially giving up a guy who's a decade younger and is still seemingly on the upswing? No way.
