Aldridge's Camp Discuss Trade Possibilities

Aldridge doesn't give a shit about big lights. Have you been paying attention? He is reserved and likes not being in the limelight.

I can see a clipper trade because of the connections and contention, but it has nothing to do with "media market". But who do they send back? Fuck Blake griffin!

Well it would need to be Blake Griffin + I'm not sure. I just think those two teams and maybe Golden State I guess might be the best trade partners for both teams. You have to meet in the middle it can't just be one sided.

Do we really know what he wants? He's made comments that alluded to his dislike of being in a "fishbowl." Maybe he wants to be a second or third fiddle on contending team in a place that isn't as basketball crazy as Portland?

Well I guess you're right; but if he wants to go to a Texas state; it's not really a bright light destination. Yes the market is bigger; but hardly one of a player that wants stardom.

Horford for Aldridge straight up

Golden state is obviously the best plausible trade partner

I guess that's my point, maybe he wants a place where he's a smaller fish in a bigger pond (so to speak) a place where he might be in a bigger media market, but could end up being more anonymous - especially in a city where the NBA team is the second or third most important pro franchise. Dallas, Houston, etc.

Send him to Orlando then

There is no fucking chance I want us to take a chance with Noah. His contract is up in two years and I think there is less of a chance to keep him. We need a player bound for at least 3 more years.

Blake Griffin has 5 more years. Just sayin.

Keep in mind that when trading Aldridge that it will have to be to a contending team. No team will trade for Aldridge if he won't re-sign there.

This rules out any Orlando trade.

Send out Batum and Aldridge and somehow get back Kawhi Leonard and Al Horford. Make it happen.

In my mind, the trade should be Aldridge for Oladipo, Vucevic, and Al Harrington to fill the space.

Mega young, but you get the wing and a really good center.

Lillard
Oladipo
Batum
Robinson
Vucevic

That's a very good, young, versatile team to build around, with CJ coming off the bench.

Love that trade. We should trade Aldridge & completely hand the team over to Lillard and commit to the youth movement.

If there's any way - get 'er done Olshey!

You put Aldridge with the Clippers and they are serious contenders.

I sent my boy Haynes a link to this thread......... If you got questions, fire away!

Sent from my baller ass iPad FAMS!

I think that if/when LMA is traded, it'll have to be in a 3-way (or bigger). There just isn't enough to make a trade work one-on-one (as has been repeatedly stated above).

Teams I think LMA would go to and at least have a decent chance of either re-signing or helping a team to a championship in the next 2 years:
OKC/DAL/HOU/SAS/CHI/LAC/NOP

Players it seems we've asked about (and been rejected):
Joakim Noah, Kevin Love, Blake Griffin, Al Horford and Anthony Davis

It seems like the target is bigs, and either legit All-Star bigs on a second contract or projections on a rookie one...which, coupled with our drafting, would seem to rule out the scenarios that have a young wing (like MKG or Oladipo or something) coming back in a package with either a lesser-talented big or draft picks.

I don't love the Griffin aspect, but it may be the closest to actually happening due to a) Griffin is a big, b) Griffin being all-star caliber (if not as good as LMA) and c) on a longer deal, but still good enough to give PA the "we can win with this! We're not tanking!" vibe. And LMA would make the Clips a lot better (b/c of Jordan and CP3) than Griffin does.

Just seems premature. The team improved pretty significantly by adding a bench, a real center, and projected development of Lillard, Matthews, and Batum. Little confused on why this is a thing now and not 30-40 games into the season (if things weren't looking good).

I have three reactions:
1. So LA's in Las Vegas and, unlike people like Carlos Boozer, doesn't come to watch Summer League, but sets up a meeting to arrange a trade?
2. How many other players do this fairly routinely without us knowing?
But most importantly:
3. If any other team had offered remotely close to his value, he'd be gone already. Teams aren't desperate yet and EVERYBODY's focused on 2014 (except the Nets) and nobody's going to give up a valuable 2014 pick. Aldridge is just mad because he becomes a FA a year too late.

I would be absolutely over the moon if that happened.

I'm just pissed that LA comes out with this garbage now and not before Olshey got Lopez. What use do we have for him now without LA?

Other thoughts:

What makes this trade extra difficult is that we'd need a PF in return. But if a team has a good young PF, why are they trading for LA? That would mean we'd be getting several lesser players for our star, and the only time a team wins that end of a deal is if the star gets injured or leaves the team he goes to after a year (like Dwight Howard).

The moves we've made this Summer actually make this trade more muddled. When we only had 4 or 5 NBA-level players on the roster, it wouldn't've mattered what position we got players back, but now our team actually has too many guards, if anything, and a young center who we want to assess.

Final thought:

I bet this is still about trying to go to Chicago. This is all driven by Aldridge's agent, who is the same as Rose's, right? Olshey is holding out for assets of value. But Chicago can wait: they have Charlotte's pick in 2014 and Mirotic developing overseas, so they're not particularly pushed to trade. And they'd certainly be insane to give up Noah (apart from anything, Gar Forman has already pissed Thibodeau off, and that might drive him over the edge).

Our only hope is:
1. If Rose really REALLY pushes for it (and he won't).
2. If their owner decides to be really cheap and doesn't want to amnesty Boozer, and so agrees to package both the CHA pick and Mirotic (the young assets that no other team has to offer) if we take Boozer.

I think even talking about other teams is pointless. That Magic trade above is a pipe dream. Orlando is still rebuilding and has no interest in Aldridge.

What I took from the article was

"both sides focused on doing what's best for both parties"

"Trading Aldridge for a collection of draft picks will not be an option."

So teams like Orlando make no sense. Getting Aldridge to Houston, Dallas, OKC, Chicago, SA, GS, LAL, LAC would probably be his choice. I of course never have any idea about anything, so that is just a guess. If draft picks only are out, So is Dallas, LAL, LAC, SA. Leaving Houston, OKC, Chicago, GS. Deals I can see that might make sense for all teams are.

Houston in a three way netting us Parsons, Jones and picks
OKC netting us Ibaka, Lamb, PJIII and pick
Chicago in a 3 way netting us Butler, Mirotic another young player, Charlotte 1st and Chicago 1st
GS 3 way netting us Thompson, Barnes another young player and a 1st
