Has nothing to do with the Blazers, but whatever--it's a big enough deal that it's worthy of a thread. Where do you come down in regard to this blockbuster trade?

Morey salvages this by getting an all NBA player to have a legit shot at the title if it all works out.

Marks doesn't have to pay a fat 36 yr old Harden 55 million.

I'm just pissed Morey and his stans get to crow about this.

Both teams win...

Harden doesn’t make teams better and he’s often injured in his older age. Simmons is an elite, top 5 defender, which the Nets need badly. Plus they got Curry and Drummond along with 2 first round picks. Plus, I don’t see much of a market for Harden and his contract after this experiment fails.

Nets won fairly easily.

Nets. If they have Simmons as point forward with curry, irving and Durant to dish to?

Instant favorites to win in my opinion.
Yeah Morey proved everyone wrong, but he still didn't win the trade.

two biggest drama queens in the sport just got swapped. I don't know why i find that so amusing.

Both won considering Simmons and Harden wanted out.
Calling Morey an idiot for this trade is ridiculous.

Nets won this. Simmons + Durant will be fearsome. They get an amazing defender and facilitator surrounded by scorers. Better balance, better defense, more versatile. Of course, they still have a Kylie Irving problem!

I knew as the trade deadline got closer Morey's offers would get better, Im sure we had one on the table as well.
Simmons attitude, holding out didnt hurt his value at all.

As much as I dont like Morey he played his cards right on this.

Philly had kind of found their mojo over the last couple of months. 16-6 over the last 22 games. Curry was part of that, but Drummond really wasn't. So, for this year's team they are essentially replacing Curry with Harden. I think in the short term (next couple of years) the 76ers may very well have got a lot better

Brooklyn is a mess right now, and has lots of injuries. Hard to say how effective Simmons will be the rest of the season. With ultimate health, and Simmons on his game, I can see a Durant/Kyrie/Simmons trio being better than one with Harden. But that's a really tough needle to thread 2/3 of the way thru the season

Short term winner: Philly. Long term maybe Brooklyn but Durant's health, Kyrie's brain, and the psyche of Simmons is a real volatile mix. And, both Durant and Kyrie have player options for next season

Is Simmons gonna be able to play in home games? Thought he wasnt vaccinated

Both. Nets get better and younger (IMO), Morey is proven right, and Sixers can compete for a title now.

Morey not only got an all star but a HOF'er, for a guy who's value was supposed to be in the tank.

Can the Chubby Chia lose enough weight to take the stress off his body. His injuries have been lingering. I'm not so sure.
huge star in decline and likely wanting a massive contract this summer - well over 200 mil - all one has to look at is Westbrook/Wall to see how their huge deals worked out. Harden is 32, turns 33 iAugust. IMO he does not take care of himself and he's already having lingering injuries as you say. Good luck Philly, you will need it,

Winner: Brooklyn - got a great haul. HOWEVER, they are violating the 1-headcase-at-a-time rule with Ben and Kyrie.

Winner: Philly - They showed they are a top EC team, and now they're adding Harden.

Loser: Harden's Reputation - he very much comes off as a fat weasel.

It's off-topic, but this trade does impact the Blazers. I fully expect Lillard to be traded this summer and to build around Simons. The Nets got incredible value for Harden, and I think that sets a floor for Dame's value. You don't think we could get at least that for Lillard? I think we could get more.

Morey also broke the first rule of big trades.
Don’t make a trade with a legit competitor in your conference.
This is just so, so dumb on many levels by the Sixers.

I had been suggesting Simmons, Maxey and multiple 1sts for awhile and got shit on about it.

I would take that deal today.
