Crazy shit going down lately, due to DA's that don't prosecute (catch and release) and police that can't do their job anymore.

This store owner tried to take matters into his own hands but ended up shooting a deaf 9 year old girl

Someone on Nextdoor just a few streets over posted that they had their cat converter stolen. I'm afraid to go out and start my car![]()
Its so bad out here in LA. I may install a shield to hopefully help prevent theft.
My brothers pickup was stolen out of his driveway around noon a week or two ago in Canby. Found it across town in a church parking lot with the cat missing. The punched out the ignition drove it there cut off the cat and left it.Someone on Nextdoor just a few streets over posted that they had their cat converter stolen. What were they trying to convert their cat to? Sounds like animal cruelty to me.
Take cat from car, follow owner to mechanic, sell cat to mechanic, profit!
I just want to say that I love your stuff!
A law punishing desperate people isn't going to solve this. Nobody is getting rich stealing cats. This is where we need our legislators to step in and make it illegal to resell catalytic converters. I know lots of guys who go fishing and come back to the boat ramp to have them missing from their trucks. It is a big deal and getting old.
No but lots of people are loosing a lot of money replacing their cats when the desperate people steal them with no fear of consequences. If you punish the businesses who are buying them and take away the market it will curb this issue. As long as businesses continue to be allowed to buy stolen property it will continue. Go after the buyers and it will solve the problem.A law punishing desperate people isn't going to solve this. Nobody is getting rich stealing cats.
Platinum + Palladium = $Don't they just melt them anyway?
My understanding is most are sold to junk yards who then do what ever they want. Take away the market for them. If they have no one to sell them to, they will stop stealing them.Don't they just melt them anyway?
We already have laws punishing businesses as well as the thieves... I'm simply saying holding out hope that more laws will help anything is wishful thinking. No but lots of people are loosing a lot of money replacing their cats when the desperate people steal them with no fear of consequences. At this point it is not illegal for the business to buy the catalytic converters. They don't ask where it is from, so until they make it illegal for the business to buy used cats it will continue to happen. It is $500 plus for a person to replace their cat.We already have laws punishing businesses as well as the thieves... This problem isn't going to go away until we address our problems with poverty...
