This is terrible for several reasons. It is going to lead to more injuries. And, it is going to make it to where they have to do something like a first half of the season schedule and second half. All the tournament games will count towards the 82 regular season....but they can't know who will advance and play who before hand. This will be a scheduling disaster.

This is a trash idea. Just a money grab. I don't want our players playing in this. I agree with Cuban. I'd treat it like a Summer League roster.

You can't treat it that way though because the games count for the season standings.

Players miss too much time as it is (Injuries, load management).

Your players are going to be playing regardless. It’s just part of the 82 game schedule

How does it lead to more injuries?

I don’t see why so many of you hate the idea of the games meaning more. A Christmas Day title game! This sounds like fun. Think of how much fun the bubble seeding games were. And I recently read that Dame’s Bubble MVP is actually an important credit to his HOF resume. I get it that a lot of you hate change, but 20 years from now, people will say “What? There used to be no inseason tournament? How awful.” Guys, it gives us something to win! Way more exciting than a division title.

Are you freaking serious, c'mon man. Ooh, maybe we get a participation trophy.

The only way this would be interesting at all is if they let G-League, and even college teams participate. Then they'd really be emulating soccer leagues. I hate this idea as is. I'd rather see a world club championship type of tournament.

I'd criticize it, but ... I don't even understand it.

I've got a hunch that'll be its general reception.

I like the idea; 82 games is incredibly boring.

Winner should get HCA in opening round of the playoffs; with runner up getting playoff birth.

Ideally I'd also trim the schedule down to 60-70 games; but doesn't seem like thats ever being considered.

Criticism that this leads to injuries or teams won't try makes no sense; thats literally what happens now over a bulk of the 82 games.

These "tournament games" will count towards their normal regular season record?

How does it lead to more injuries?

It will be a playoff atmosphere mid season which means more energy and a faster pace. We will see guys getting injured during the this tournament and it will influence the rest of the regular season.

Trimming the schedule down might help with this, but it will be felt in other ways. That's a huge loss in revenue. To make up for it ticket prices will go up. Season ticket holders will be paying the same if not more for less games.

In the future, there will be 1230 tournaments per year, each involving 2 teams.
Think of it, every time you go to a game, a championship trophy will be awarded! Exciting, yes?

If the NBA is going to move forward with this I hope they will move the all star game & festivities to after the NBA finals are over with. Maybe they could give the players and coaches 1-2 weeks off mid season instead or after the in season tournament?

I wonder what the stats are on that. Do people get injured more during the playoffs? I don’t think so.
