OT Vegas Summer League 2023

So, in the Clint Capella mold.

 

If he could get close to that level with even better size, that would be a MASSIVE win for the Blazers.

 

Of course. Not implying he will have that level of impact, just a question if that is the right kind of archetype to project him to. I honestly don't know much about him as a prospect.

 

He is mobile for his size, but not as smooth or agile as Capela would be my impression. I watched a ton of video on him over a year ago (there is an old thread somewhere) before the Draft and saw some things that are uniquely rare. He just has to get passed the 'raw' level. Portland got him for nothing. Almost anything he provides will be a Win, but if he puts the work in, I think he has the ability to be a back end rotation player that can cover up a lot of mistakes on the defensive end.

Watch the dunk from the play that starts at 19 seconds. The PnR is on the same side and he locates and catches the ball looking 180 degrees from the basket. Then in midair, redirects (all with one hand) and throws it down in traffic. That is an incredibly agile, skillful catch and dunk.

Also, at 1:30, watch his 3-pt form. That is not bad at all. Looks a bit like Grant (when he doesn't do the really quick high release shots).

He is the guy that shows up to open gym at 40 years old and drops 30 on the 20 year olds. He's got that crafty old man vibe.

At least it’s good to know that nobody here will over react to a great game by one of these young guys at summer league and then go on to predict HCA in next springs playoffs…..PHEW.

 

ANYONE predicting HCA needs to be banned for a week to calm down because I would seriously be worried about the health of their heart when it inevitably didn't happen.

 

I am guaranteeing HCA......................................... in the summer league.

 

OH Come on now... He's 2 years younger than Oden when we got him for #1... that would make him only 44!

 

Kind of cool we can watch Jovic on the Heat until he gets traded for Dame lol.
