Game 67 Pens vs Rangers

Not a bad period, a bit hectic, but okay overall.

Big picture/long term, the 2nd goal by the Pens is what really concerns me about the Rangers. Terrible in zone coverage as Schneider and Trocheck standing in front of Quick, Crosby all alone skates towards the goal, and then he passes to Rust, who somehow is also all alone, who scores into the empty net. Stuff like that has to be cleaned up if they want to beat the very best teams in the playoffs.

This is a team the Rangers should beat, so hopefully they get it done.

I think the Rangers are ready for the playoffs. They’re not gonna play every game sharp. Home ice doesn’t mean all that much in the NHL playoffs you saw that last year.

I’ve said it before and I will keep saying it. Miller sucks.

I agree home ice doesn't mean much, that's why I really don't think it matters if we finish 1st or 2nd in the Met. What does matter is guys left all alone in our zone constantly. It is a big issue, and I am not sure it will get solved this season with the current players.

We trade for a 7th dman. We’re all good.

PP comes to life, good to see. We also hit 3 or 4 posts, including Zibanejad with a wide-open net (he is not allowed to score 5 on 5...:)). Pens are a mess, if the Rangers tighten up just a bit they should hold onto this one.

Win and move on...

Flyers next 6 games. Boston twice, Rangers, Toronto,Florida and Carolina. If they can go three and three or get at least six points I think they hold off the Islanders.

Islanders have a real tough rest of the season. If they make the playoffs they’ll have earned it.

The Flyers also have the tiebreaker over the Isles, they play one more time in Philly, and they are 3 points ahead (the Isles have a game in hand). With that said, those next 6 games are crazy difficult for the Flyers, so I'm not sure how it will play out, and the Caps are also sort of in the mix for 3rd place. It is going to be very close for the last Met playoff spot, and the two teams that don't finish 3rd will battle the Wings and TB for the two WC spots (I do think TB will get the top WC spot though).

Dumbasses when you have a 5 to 3 lead you should not allow any odd man rushes in a third period. SMH.

Adam Fox with a retarded move to give the Pens life. This team refuses to just play smart with a lead.

Jones isn’t bad, but he’s at best a 6th-7th dman. He is a reserve/spot starter. That’s why he’s still here and not traded. He’s not that great. He isn’t strong enough to clear the crease, he isn’t offensively talented enough to make plays, his hockey IQ isn’t high either. He’s out of position quite often and makes lazy plays…similar to most of our other dmen.

A win is a win, move onto the next game. Fox needs to be a little smarter on the Pens 4th goal. They need to tighten up in their own zone and against the rush as they go forward. Quick with a huge 3rd period.

It’s pretty much exhibition games from now on for the rangers. I expect them to play a pond hockey for the rest of the season.

Clearly missing Trouba (3 hits for the defensive unit) so Pens were free to cruise through the crease unmolested and whack away at Quick after he covered the puck.. With Rempe and Trouba back and Jonny/Jones out the team is much better.

Good job Toronto. Blew a two goal lead in the final two minutes and lost in the shootout to Carolina.

Yes, Toronto at its finest. With that said, it is becoming clearer that TB will be the top WC after Vasil stole one against the Panthers tonight, meaning the Met winner most likely will play TB. Give me the Isles/Caps/Flyers instead if I have a choice. I think the Rangers could beat TB of course, but they are better than those Met teams, with Cup experience, and a way better goalie.

I also don't think home ice in round 2 is a big deal, and I like starting on the road actually. Point to me is if the Canes play really well and pass us, I won't lose any sleep over it. Maybe mentally you want to hold onto 1st after leading all season, but when all is said and done, round 2 against the Canes will be a tough series we'll need to be at our best to win, with or without home ice.

I watched the third period and OT of the Avs/Oilers game. Man, those are fun teams to watch...they are fast. Colorado is going to be a very tough out this year.

Colorado has an extremely subpar goaltender. That usually doesn’t mean you’re gonna be aColorado has an extremely subpar goaltender. That usually doesn’t mean you’re gonna be a tough out.
