<div class="quote_poster">Quote:</div><div class="quote_post">What's going on between Allan Houston and Knicks president Isiah Thomas? Despite denials from a Knicks spokesman, a well-placed NBA source yesterday said Houston definitely has been offered to Toronto by Thomas in his effort to trade for Vince Carter. In addition, the decision to activate Houston from the injured list Tuesday in Memphis before his planned comeback tomorrow in Washington also seems to have caught the two-time All-Star shooting guard by surprise.

Carter left the Raptors' game last night in Detroit with a strained left Achilles tendon and is listed as day-to-day, which could put any deal on hold. The mere fact Houston's name is in play doesn't mean he'll be heading to Toronto. Thomas is willing to take the contract of Jalen Rose in a deal for Carter, but his offer of Tim Thomas and Houston, along with other pot-sweeteners, such as Jerome Williams and draft picks, isn't likely to get it done. "I don't know what Toronto will do, but I wouldn't do it," the personnel expert said. "Tim Thomas is not great, and he's way overpaid. Houston hasn't even played yet.

</div>How would you guys feel if Allan Houston, Tim Thomas JYD and other players were traded for Vince Carter and Jalen Rose? I also heard Jerome Williams could be in the deal. It probably wont happen but, it has been a rumor for a while and this is Isiah Thomas so we never know. Well, I know the main guy in this is Allan Houston but, wait a minute. JYD is our best defender/best hustler/best energy off the bench. In my book this guy is untouchable. Jalen Rose and Vince Carter are offensive people correct? And if we trade away our best defender on our already weak defensive team wouldn't we just be an even worse defensive team? No way trade JYD!

Now back to Houston. I think we will need Allan Houston more than we will Vince Carter and Jalen Rose. Rose will be a great option off the bench but, the guy is 31 with a huge contract. His best years are definitely behind him. VC is definitely not looking good. He is averaging a career low 15ppg, 3rpg, and 3apg. Carter wont really do anything. He is a slasher by nature and has fallen in love with the jumpshot. He doesn't really slash anymore and his jumpshot is no where near Houston's. We already have a slasher in Jamal Crawford, and we don't need another one. Also I am concerned with VC's attitude. Let's say the Knicks aren't doing so well (hopefully not). Will he want out of NY aswell? And he is still injury prone. I know we still have Penny Hardaway, and other SF options but, we can't afford injuries if we are trying to make a strong push this year. Allan Houston is a perfect fit for the Knicks. I don't know how many times this was said but, he stretches the defense so much that teams wont play any zone (the defense giving us a lot of problems.) The way Nazr Mohammed has been playing will only benefit because it will only give him more space to do his thing in the paint. We will have close to a real complete lineup with H2O, Steph, and Nazr. I especially think this will be effective when the Knicks go into the playoffs. We will have an experienced shooter who shoots 42% from 3 for his career in the playoffs. The only real concern I have with Houston is his knees. From what he has said and done they should be fine. The Knicks were saying that he never missed a beat so I guess I will have to take their word for it but, seeing is definitely believing. If he is still the same Allan Houston from 02-03 I am almost sure we can make it to the conference finals.

I can't believe I'm saying this but, let's keep TT. His huge contract is about to be expiring in 06 and we can get some great players to give teams flexibility. The Hawks traded Rasheed Wallace for some cap room. I'm pretty sure there will be a team looking to get some space. Besides, if no one is willing to take on TT's contract we let it expire and save some cap room ourselves. Link

I don't like the trade. Having Marbury, Crawford, Carter and Rose on the same team would be awful. There's not enough shots too take in a game for those 4 guys. Even though this trade probably won't happen, if I were the Knicks I wouldn't be to into this deal.

i jsut dont see whats in this for the raptors. raps are most likely going into rebuild mode, and that trade certainly doesnt help in that department. big contracts...aging players. if the raps are going to be making any trades i cant see it happening for anything other then expiring contracts and help on the boards. that trade would hurt us offensively and wouldnt help us with rebounding...dont see why babs would do that trade.

doesnt really seem to help you guys either...although there is no question at least in my mind that vince and jalen are better then thomas and houston

This trade would be perfect for the knicks losing aging players, big contracts, and just stupid players like TT, but I do not see what the Raptors get they just get all the Knicks problems. I do not know what they would be thinking to do this trade. I love Houstons attitude, but his contract makes him a liability as well as his age and injuries.

I think I agree with who ever said having Rose Crawford VC and Marbury on the same team would not work to many guys at the same positions, and not enough shots. Then you got to bring in some where Ariza and give him some playing time and Penny as well who wa splaying very well. It just wouldnt work.

They would have to much of a shot first attitude on the team and not enough role players to add to there team. You would also have Thomas looking for his shots and Mazr who has been playing well looking to get at least a few shots up in the air.

Let me see here...Isiah Thomas is actually considering trading away one of our best defenders, hustle players, and fan favorites as well as arguably the best shooter in the league, proven playoff performer, long time go to guy for Jalen Rose and a dead guy. I say dead guy because Vince Carter doesnt have a pulse because the man has no heart. I wish I could say I'm aghast at the idea that Isiah would even think about this kind of trade but I'm not surprised. Isiah is a clown. I said it before, the fool has no idea how to make little changes to make a team better. All he can do is make big blockbuster trades that may or may not work. I'm now used to him and his stupid trade ideas.

If we do this idiotic trade we'll make all the pre season speculation come true. The ones that said that the Knicks have too many players who need to ball to be effective. Houston does not need to have the ball in order to impact the game! This has been said over and over again. Houston will spread the floor so all the other Knicks can have more room to operate. Houston will break down zone defenses which have clearly given the Knicks problems. Vince Carter does not solve any problems. He wont play great defense and he wont break down zone defenses. He'll just bring more chemistry problems. We have two slashers already. We really dont need a third. Besides he's been fadeaway jumpering himself into oblivion. We dont need his bad shots when we have someone with a world class jumpshot like Houston. We also finally have a post up player that draws double teams. Every jumpshooter's dream. Vince Carter and Sweetney will not have that kind of connection. Then there's Jalen Rose's contract. People who have an issue with Houston's contract and think that that's enough reason to trade him should realize that Jalen Rose is WAY overpaid and isnt as good. I mean you cant think Houston's contract is a problem but be willing to take Rose's.

Bottom line it's just a dumb trade for the Knicks. The only good thing about that trade is we lose TT. But then again his contract expires next season so we can trade him to someone looking to dump salary or just hold onto him and get some cap room for ourselves. This trade looks like that dreaded Van Horn deal. We are about to destroy chemistry and wins for a few more highlight reels and I dont know about all of you but I'd rather have the wins. Let's keep our guys and let them keep their guys so we can go on to win the Atlantic and go to the Eastern Conference Semifinals.
