<div class="quote_poster">Quoting Hendrix:</div><div class="quote_post">Erick Dampier at 36 with Jammal Magloire not on the list...not that Jammaal deserves top 50 but he's way better than Dampier. Also Tay Prince at 50? So he played good D on like Devean George in the finals big deal! Boozer over Marion thats jsut weird!</div> Dampier last year was better than Magloire, he averaged a double double, 12 and 12 compared to Magloire's 13 and 10. He also blocked more shots. So thats why he is higher. As for Prince? played good D on George? hell no...try Kobe Bryant and he didn't just play good D on him, he shut him down.
<div class="quote_poster">Quoting og15:</div><div class="quote_post"> Really, the bonified franchise players should be the guys in the top 20, not guys like Nash and Cassell who are complimentary players, and their are many more mistakes, but this is one of the worst ones I've seen</div> Sammy is my man but I do agree with you that Sammy is ranked a bit high, mainly because he wont put up the scoring # that he did last year because Hudson & Wally S. should be healthy giving the Wolves more scoring options they really didnt have much of last season. Kidd and Marbury are the two point guards that clearly should be listed ahead of Sammy going into the year. But Kidd is injured. And injuries clearly effect the way this guy was ranking ie Webber's ranking. But I disagree with the top 20 must only be bonafide franchise players, cause there is not 20 bonafide franchise players in this league. No order, players I consider bonafide Franchise players Kevin Garnett Tim Duncan Jason Kidd Shaq Kobe* Allen Iverson list but not 100% convinced yet. Just missed the cut: Jermaine O'neal- he would on the list but he needs to come thru a bit more in the playoffs biggest spots Ben Wallace- He didnt make the list because of his lack of offensive skills. But very few players in the league have a bigger impact on a team then Ben Wallace, his team defense covers up for the fact Rip & Billups cant really keep anybody in front of them on Defense. And you look at the second chance opportunites, he the Pistons on offense with his rebounding and just keeping balls alive. Webber fell off the list over the years due to injury. other than that I dont see any legit frachise players out there..there are guys who may be on there way to become a legit franchise player but still has alot of improvements to make in their overall games ie Zach Randolph, Amare Stoudamire etc. Then their is a bunch of guys who may be a teams leading score or even best player but they arent bonafide players you can build your franchise around for years to come. A team will never win a championship with guys like Micheal Redd, Steve Francis, Baron Davis etc as there best player. Yet currently they are the best player on the team they play on..those guys are really meant to be legit 2nd options on a bonafide contender. And then you have guys who fill the Stands and put up great #'s so many consider them franchise players....but while they make themselves better they dont nessasarly make a team better Vince Carter, Tracy Mcgrady...looks like a franchise player, smells like a franchise player but really isnt a bonafide franchise player other then in the marketing of a team. Imo, a bonafide franchise player can carry a team to a championship or at least the finals, while making those around him consistently better. and also at the same time benefits the business side of a team. A bona fide franchise player is almost un tradable. And not because his salary is to much to move him. But because there is just about no way to pull off a deal that would end up upgrading the ON-Court level of your basketball team. When a franchise player is traded the entire scope of the franchise is changed.Alot of the players in the league may fill some of the requirments but very few fit all.
I couldnt have said it better ^^^ although Kobe and TMAC are in the same boat, Kobe hasnt led anybody to the finals or a championship alone... Lakers might have a tough time making the playoffs let alone the finals. WEST: Locks for the playoffs unless major injuries 1.MIN 2.SA 3.SAC 4.HOU 5.DAL 6.MEM 7 & 8 Fight between UTA, PHO, DEN, LAL, N.O.
No, Lakers will def. win the Pacific so they are a lock for playoffs at the 3rd spot. Kings aren't as good as they were either, you know?
<div class="quote_poster">Quoting RJ 21:</div><div class="quote_post">No, Lakers will def. win the Pacific so they are a lock for playoffs at the 3rd spot. Kings aren't as good as they were either, you know?</div> So because the Kings lost Vlade It means they won't win the pacific? they still have Bibby, Christie, Peja, Jackson, Webber, Miller and Ostertag. They will be just as strong as they were last season. Over 50 wins and a top 3 seed.
If this guy is basing this on performance next year, it wouldn't make sense because Steve Francis is almost guaranteed 20/6/6 stats this season and he's at 45? I'm too pissed right now to even comment about anything else. PS: someone should change the title of the thread, it reads 05-06.
good list IMO. Elton Brand should be even higher. He's a great player. McGrady is fine where he is. Who in the world would put him ahead of any of those players? Regardless of Shaq's deminished skills, McGrady cannot dominate like shaq. Why is even Webber on the list?
