Re: '07-08 Bold Predictions Thread Yeah, I think the Wizards potentially will be a top 3 team in the East next season. The Pistons have all their pieces back so you should expect them to be number one. The Bulls are emerging quickly and we should all see this team that has been meticulously put back together for 4 years finally make it to the ECF. The Wizards I believe will get that third seed; Arenas will be playing hard, they pretty much got a "missing link" in Nick Young, and Antawn Jamison and Caron Butler will continue performing extremely well for them. I would love to say that a team like the Heat or the Nets will return to form and be a top 3-4 seed next year, but neither one of them have significantly improved in a way that would warrant a different season than last. The Heat do have their pieces together and healthy, but they have too many issues with age, and the Nets never seem to break out. I believe the Cavs will have the 4th seed.

Even if Arenas and Butler didn't go down, I would still say the would have been knocked out of the first round in five or six games... A lot of people would agree with me on that. But looking at the playoff teams overall, I see that BOS is much more complete now and will sneak in, quite possibly taking WSH spot. The East is not a tiny bit better, it's a lot better and your in a division where the teams are rapidly improving. Same with the Central division, same with the Atlantic division. Of course, you can quote me on all this and I'll look like an idiot when I'm wrong, but if there was any thread to say this in it'd be this one.</div>I think this year the Wizards proved that their defense won't hurt them when securing a playoff seed. It will hurt them come the playoffs but the Wizards will always be able to get a top seed when healthy. Also, if Caron and Gilbert didn't get injured, they wouldn't have been the 7th seed and would have likely played Toronto rather than Cleveland. Look at history 808hornetsfan, Wizards won't struggle in the regular season as a healthy team.

I just don't know why that is, but I think the Wizards will truly show everybody next season that they are one of the best teams in the NBA.

Re: '07-08 Bold Predictions Thread Kendrick Perkins will average 3+ assists per game.He is an excellent passer for a big and with all the wing players on the Celtics, he should get a lot of passes to open shooters.

Re: '07-08 Bold Predictions Thread <div class='quotetop'>QUOTE (valo35 @ Jul 11 2007, 08:50 AM) <{POST_SNAPBACK}></div><div class='quotemain'>They might be better from a pure basketball talent standpoint on every position, but they don't have the team work, and didn't have the team work last year to go with it. Orlando has better ball movement, they have better chemistry, better defense, and are a better rebounding team than Boston is, even with Ray Allen. With Rashard Lewis, we got something that this team didn't have last year, a consistent outside threat. Despite that consistent outside scoring threat, the Magic was still able to pull off the 8th seed and be better than alot of other teams. This year they will have offensive balance, they will still have that defense from last year, and they will still be one of the better rebounding teams in the league. This year with Turkoglu's scoring coming from the bench, instead of being in the starting lineup, our bench scoring will be much better to go along with the defense that the bench was able to play last year. Then you add to that, our coach is ten times better than Doc Rivers as a coach, and that makes the Magic even farther ahead. Rivers makes stupid adjustments, bad substitutions, and plays alot of favorites. With him there, the chemistry for that team is never going to get good enough and will keep Orlando as the better team.</div>I don't really disagree with any of that at least as far as your arguments go. I'm not really high on the whole Rashard Lewis thing... the only players that remotely impressed me last year on the Magic were Howard and Hill. There are a lot of reasons to believe that Boston will miss the playoffs, but there are a lot of reasons to believe that they can make it, which is all I said. The Celtics had tons of injuries last year, no Ray Allen, and were pretty much tanking for a while, too.
Re: '07-08 Bold Predictions Thread <div class='quotetop'>QUOTE (CB4AllStar @ Jul 11 2007, 10:31 AM) <{POST_SNAPBACK}></div><div class='quotemain'>Orlando over Toronto is a complete joke.</div>I don't see where it's a complete joke, it's very possible that it could happen. Orlando is better in a few area's, and has improved in the area's that they needed to improve in. The Magic are a better rebounding team than the Raptors are, they are a better defensive team than the Raptors, they have a better coach, and with the addition of Rashard Lewis he is going to provide the offensive balance to catch the offense up with our defense, which should have us win quite a few more games than we did last year. Meanwhile, the Raptors really only improved a little bit of bench depth, which the Magic did to since Turkoglu is now going to be coming off the bench, while the rest of your division improved significantly through the free agent market or are just going to be more healthy this year. They are going to be able to beat you guys more throughout the season, as well as other teams in the league are, while the Magic will just get better than last year. So I think the Magic are going to have a better record than Toronto come playoff time.<div class='quotetop'>QUOTE (RaptorFan#1 @ Jul 11 2007, 10:33 AM) <{POST_SNAPBACK}></div><div class='quotemain'>Valo, uhm you have cleveland twice in your standings.....</div>Yeah, I meant for Chicago to have that 5 seed again, don't know what I was thinking about while typing.

Chris Paul is past his injury problems, Tyson Chandler is fairly healthy, and expect Peja to have a 65-70 game season next year.
