I don't get this. Memphis is a much better situation than Kentucky.

Re: Source: Kentucky job on Calipari's mind

Watch the video in the link, like Andy Katz says, Calipari is non-existent from the end of December until the tourney b/c in C-USA they don't play anyone. Calipari has always had teams @ Memphis that would be able to compete in the SEC, so I don't see Calipari having much of an issue coaching @ Kentucky, plus he'll now be able to sell the name. If they have a scholy left, I wouldn't be surprised to see him bring in John Wall if he does decide to go to Kentucky.

I actually think if Cal goes to UK, then Wall goes to Baylor.

All Calipari can do is recruit, he is a piss poor bench coach. Hire Mike Anderson or Tim Floyd if he goes.

    Tiger's New Coach?

Now that Calipari is a goner, who is the Tigers' new head coach? I really like Mike Anderson, but the problem is that he can't recruit. Anderson is a better bench coach than Calipari, but Calipari is arguably the best recruiter in the country. There is also some talk about Tim Floyd, who is a great recruiter, but an overrated coach IMO. Next year is going to be tough for us.

Because Kentucky offered him more money and that's all Calipari cares about.

    Re: Tiger's New Coach?

If you were in his spot, why would you turn down a major raise and a chance to coach in a major conference? Memphis isn't exactly the greatest school or area for that matter, and Kentucky is a challenge for him while Memphis was a cakewalk. I wonder who will go to Memphis now though since the job isn't really in a power conference.

I'm hearing your Anderson wish might come true

If Mizzou gets fucked in the end, I am happy.

    Re: Tiger's New Coach?

Put it this way. I'm completely inconsiderate of the situation Cal was in. Memphis had a great chance of winning it all next year and now those chances are gone with him leaving along with his recruits.

    Re: Tiger's New Coach?

I saw this on the Commercial Appeal comments section. I don't know whether it's true or not but it's worth a look.

Memphis will get the last laugh. Kentucky fans and alumni won't give him 3 years to build a program. As far as taking recruits, KY only has so many scholarships and they're used up. I say the sooner we pull in Mike Anderson for big dollars the better. To hell with keeping Cal's promises to Tony Barber, not Memphis' promise. Anderson can save this recruiting class because his sell is he has Cal's number flat out and plays the same or better type ball. I backed Cal all out but this will be a huge mistake. The alumni and staff are going to try to control a control freak, heads will bump and it's over for him there. Sooner or later UofM will be in a power conference and the ground work is already laid. RC needs to get busy with big $$ with Cal tonite or get on with Anderson at sun up tommorrow!

    Re: Tiger's New Coach?

I heard Anderson is #1 on Memphis list of coaches and they are willing to pay him 3 million a year on a multi-year contract. I doubt Mizzou is willing to match that and Georgia's offer was less than that too.

With Anderson resigning, we will probably make a move for Floyd, but I doubt we get him. We are probably going to be stupid and settle with Tony Barbee.

    Re: Tiger's New Coach?

You guys might now believe me when I say this, I don't really believe it much ethier, but in a Memphis sports radio it said R.C. was going after Bruce Pearl. I would love this simply because it would be a huge hit to Tennessee and Bruce Pearl isn't a bad coach at all ethier. I seriously doubt this happens but if it doesn't I certainly wouldn't be angry about it. Pearl is a great recruiter, too.

Tony Barbee, Tim Floyd, Derek Kellogg, Andy Kennedy, Sean Miller, Bruce Pearl , Rick Pitino, Oliver Purnell, and Reggie Theus are all the coaches being considered at the moment I think.
