I think that he hears all the negativity from the fan-base. This dude would struggle mentally without any negativity, which he even recognizes and openly talks about.

But with negativity, I think he's just mentally wasted. You can see how much anger is within him when he argues calls. He looks pissed off out of his mind.

I think that a byproduct of this anger is him getting himself hyped up whenever he does something good. It's almost like a good play is a relief to him because he's so stressed out. For guys like Dame, good plays are normal. But for Meyers, his mind is in such bad shape and without confidence, that one good play is a big deal for him. It's also likely that Meyers is compensating for his cratering self-confidence with cockiness. That cockiness, combined with the fact that he knows the fanbase hates on him constantly, would lead me to believe the story @TBpup relayed to the forum the other day. If it's true, I don't blame him, and I don't think it's because he's an asshole, I just think the situation has made him mentally fucked.

I think he wants to be well for the fanbase, but knows the fanbase can't stand him, which sucks to want to please people who hate on you. Hell, I can't stand some of the mistakes he makes, but the way some people react about those mistakes lead him to make even more, because some of the shit people post is too much. We've nicknamed him "butters" and make fun of his facial expressions and looks all the time.

I feel bad for the dude. His mentality is probably permanently fucked. It's his own problems combined with being the fanbases whipping boy.

He needs to get traded. Maybe go home to Chicago (close enough) and play 25 minutes a game for the rebuilding Bulls after they trade Jimmy Butler.

Oh, I totally believe that. You can tell he so very badly wants to do the right thing so people won't hate him. And it's that very desire that's fucking up his ability to play. For whatever reason, he's always drawn more criticism than other players in his position, and he knows it and can hear it in the crowd's disappointment every time he misses a shot or defensive assignment. There's an audible groan whenever he does something that doesn't turn out positive. And yet he watches Aminu consistently turn the ball over in crunch time, but the crowd still loves the guy. That'd be pretty demoralizing for a guy like Meyers.

I'm communicating from the other side of the world, but it seems to me that the crowd at the Rose Garden is very nice to Meyers, a far cry from the toxic pool this forum (like any sports forum) can become sometimes.

Honestly, the crowd is asking him to shoot it when he's wide open, they cheer for him when he makes 1 of 3 shots. They even cheered for Lamarcus when he came back for the 1st time lol. Compare that with crowd at MSG:

And yet, so many people still really like him. (Also, I doubt Meyers - or any Blazer - reads the forum.)

I've been at a game were there was a large amount of people groaning at him. Those who weren't were booing.

    He'd get killed at MSG.

The MODA crowd last night booed Meyers when he missed a shot. Dame missed like 6-8 shots in a row, but the crowd actually booed Meyers for missing a shot he took within the offense, that he would usually make. Yeah, that's gonna help.
