If every player who missed three shots in a row got booed, that would be one hell of a lot of booing. I might be upset with a guy for taking bad shots, but those weren't bad shots. They were shots everyone would have groaned if he'd passed them up; and they were in and out. It happens. It's not boo worthy. Shooting is a lot about confidence and focus. That doesn't help.

I don't care much for protecting Meyers' feelings, but booing a dude for missing good looks (especially a dude who is always hesitant and is pressing) is a dumb idea. Don't usually see this in Moda-- surprised it happened. But I think the booing was also a reaction to Dame continually going under the pick and getting torched by Rubio on those same 4 possessions. (shades of Yogi Ferrell... *shudder*)

This is my take as well.

The guy seems to have the size and skills to be a stretch center. I would suggest Mehmet Okur as a guy I can see Leonard being similar to.

Go back and read the comments Meyers made when they finally let him shoot threes. That wasn't coaching forcing him to be something he's not, that was coaching allowing him to play the way he wants. There's nothing in Leonards DNA that suggests he would've been a post presence on either end of the court. You have to want to do it, its not coachable. Don't be fooled by the aesthetics either (he has no functional strength anyway)

There's nothing wrong with a C who can shoot 3's.

It's clearly management and the coach who decides what position he plays.

He can't shoot threes. He'sat 16.7% this month from 3pt distance and 33.8% for the season, and mostly WIDE OPEN looks

33% is pretty good for a big.

Okur didn't hit 33% for several seasons in his career. The more 3s he took, though, the higher his %.

    His career % says otherwise.

Yea, just when i open my big mouth and defend the crowd at Moda this shit happens.
I also thought Dame had a crappy one, his game is just so weird this season. I don't like Starbury Lillard.

I think people are just finally venting after watching him make rookie mistakes every night for 5 years and with now having to see him in a time of positional need. He's perpetually in "still trying to get a feel for the game" mode, which is frustrating to watch when you had as much physical potential as he did. I don't blame Meyers and don't have anything against him as a person. I'm sure he's a nice dude, so I would never go as far as booing him individually like some East Coast asshole sports fans would.

Now with that said, I'd be happy to give Olshey a piece of my mind since really he's the better scapegoat for our Meyers problem at this point. It's just crazy that we're still having this issue when the guy looked like a genuine bust as far back as 13-14.

What sucks is they also would have booed had he NOT taken the shot. He's in a can't-win situation here. He actually came up big on a couple possessions in the closing minutes of the game, but all anybody wants to talk about are his failures.

I thought having someone in the game taller than Vonleh really helped spark the win for the Blazers. That someone was Meyers. The guy does the best he can. I'm not going to boo someone who's trying.

Career % don't tell the whole story. He has regressed this season, and quite significantly too.

I don't think the booing was just because of Meyer's misses - it felt like there was a stretch of 8-10 possessions in a row where the offense just ended up throwing up a three without movement.

When you go from above average to well below it at the age of 24-25, you can bet it's injury related. Players don't just forget how to shoot in their prime like that.

He might be injured, or it's also possible we're dealing with the fallout of relying on small sample sizes to make an evaluation; maybe his highs were never that high and this year's low isn't predictive of what he'll do going forward either? Then again, just using the eyeball test, he looks like he's got the "yips" half the time. That could be exacerbated by playing hurt, but the dude looks bad when he's out there -- zero confidence, almost no court awareness. Bad times.
