Sounds an awful lot like what everyone is saying about Victor. Once in a lifetime. Generational. Crazy not to pick. Dynasty. We have heard all this before!
Funny seeing Sergio "Spanish Fly" Rodriguez' name in those lineup possibilities. Never got what some fans saw in him. He plays ok now for Spain. Nothing great.
Actually Wemby has way more in common with Durant, than Oden. Victor plans on playing the wing as well. He says he's not a center.
That's not what I meant. I meant there isn't another player on Durant's level to pick over Wemby. There isn't a 1B to Wemby's 1A.
Blew my mind that you are right we are now as close to 2039 as the Oden lottery. Wow I'm getting old fast.
He was very damn exciting. Probably one of the best backup PG's we had. Not that he would've helped a winner or contending team, more flashy than substance. But I super enjoyed watching him with those lineups zipping the ball along. That excitement came after the dreadful years we had Juan Dixon and Steve Blake starting with Ha Sung Jin as our center of the future.
This is factually incorrect; Victor Wembanyama is not currently in the NBA. In seriousness, I expect him mostly at center, but I wouldn't be surprised to see him play some at PF, especially as a rookie when the opposing center is a physical banger. Durant played SG as a rookie.
Early on, until he fills out a bit, I'd prefer to see him at PF so he isn't getting banged to death by bigs outweighing him by 50 lbs.
If he fills out. Durant never did. Durant's body matured, but a Giannis type metamorphosis never happened. If Wemby's body does mature like Giannis , look out!
Went back and looked at Giannis in his rookie year. Compared to now (Body wise) , is he really that same kid. Damn.
Blazers brass: "sure there is! how about this dude who played part of one season for east bumfuck junior college and broke his leg 6 times since middle school and has a eating disorder and a drug addiction and thinks he's Pistol Pete?" barfo
Yeah - I was over the moon - dancing around the house. Ever since then I've measured my response with the reality that any draft pick may or may not pan out - too many variables to count on anyone until they've proven themselves.
Wemby is so fluid in his movement and skillset. Oden had stiffness in his game. Maybe due to those unseen issues that would rear their ugly head way too soon. Wemby seems to almost glide . In one spot, then out of nowhere, in another , in the blink of an eye. Like if Durant and Giannis, had a love child.
