Man, why was this game even close? Baron Davis should have dominated so should have Dunleavy. Man, I can't wait for the regular season to start now! Let's see these guys play against real competition; not against the second, third, fourth string players from the Blazers and the Clippers. I guess the team did bring it back together in the second half, but ideally I don't think Baron should be getting 40+ minutes regularly in the preseason. This meaning that the other guys should be able to hold their own against other team's second teams well enough so at the most 30 minutes of Baron would be sufficient, but ideally probably 25 minutes or less for Baron in the preseason should be the case. Maybe this team is in desperate need of sometype of another PG?
<div class="quote_poster">DaJuan Wagner Wrote</div><div class="quote_post">do you guys feel like Wagner is a lock to make the team?</div> Wagner has a guaranteed contract, so he's on the team. The only players on the bubble are Robeson and Barnes.
Wagner will be in but he's got to play some defense. I mean between he and Murphy, it's pretty bad, but Wagner should have the lateral quickness to stay in front at least as well as Baron and know when to help out on defense. Nelson doesn't stress defense, but he will in the 4th. Guys in the 4th should be go-to players. If Wagner wants important minutes he'll have to play defense and pass at least as well as the average starting or sixth man shooting guard. That means a 3-4 assists type of guy. We're not asking T-mac, Kobe, Vince Carter, or Ray Allen or D-Wade type assist numbers. We know the dude can dribble so that is no problem. But defense and unselfishness is a must.
Why are you guys so down on Ike? He was 4-6 from the field, 1-1 from the line, with an assist, a rebound, and a steal in 15 minutes. Dominant? No, but hardly worth complaining about. As for Ike always trying to score, I agree he needs to learn to pass it back out when he's getting multiple defenders, but since he scores at a high percentage and can hit his freethrows as well as or better than anyone else on the team, why not? I want him taking shots.

Except I think Ike will play less minutes, but you never know. Maybe the team will play horrendous once the regular season starts. The one thing that Ike needs to do better is rebounding the ball, especially with such a guard oriented group that Nellie will put out there.

I like players like Ike, Brand, Randolph (on offense at least), Emeka Okafor. I'm hoping at least one traditional big man can thrive in Nelly's style. If not, the Ike pick was a waste. They say Ike needs to learn how to play in Nelson's style, but I think Ike can be effective when we're trying to score on isolations or getting the ball run through the high post. But that doesn't seem like Nelson's style. It's always a perimeter attack with Nelson.</div> I was listening to the game and in the third quarter, they made it seem like Ike was really running the floor hard (when we had 5 consecutive fast break scores). If he runs, I say that works for Nellie...what do you think?

Sweet picture of ike! Hopefully he be high in rotation under the system. He just needs to learn it...but anyways i forgot to mention for some reason Gabrielle Union was at the game last night. The girl from Bring it on and Bad Boys II. I wonder why or who she was there for

Man, I really don't think Ike is a blackhole like Jamison. In fact Ike can be very unselfish, but when he goes into the post he uses a lot of spin moves. And guys like Elton Brand and Zach Randolph typically don't dish out of the spin move. They will however pass from the high post or out on the wing. Well, more so Elton Brand than Zach Randolph. Randolph is a no defense playing, blackhole on offense, but he is dominant power forward when healthy. Elton Brand is prototypical Duke big player. Athletic, smart, brings defense or strong inside presence in the paint. It doesn't take much to be dominant when you know the footwork, have broad shoulders, and are very strong and quick. Ike is at least quick. He's not athletic like Brand, but he's quick and fluid at 245-250 lbs at 6'7-6'8.
