Scary stuff, indeed. It does make sense that the reason the extension took so long was because of health concerns. Of course, I and every other fan was wondering what the holdup was... now it looks like they should have really stuck to their guns, gone public with their concerns to quiet the fans, and either tried to get him to ink a smaller deal or let him remain unsigned if it came to that.
That would not have been received very well. People have short memories; 99% of the fanbase was upset that the extension business was dragging on and there was a great deal of fretting about doing right by a guy who had done so much to restore the franchise's image, going public with their concerns over his long term durability would have been seen as a cheap ploy to deprive him what he had earned. It sucks now with 20/20 hindsight, but the big extension was an inevitable outcome. Just hope that this latest setback is just temporary.
Isn't Bobby Corser a Meteorologist? If this is the same Bobby Corser - what exactly are his qualifications for making these allegations? Not that I have a clue if this is true or not, but... if a Meteorologist is the source of the health quotes... let me just say that I expect a low-pressure system coming from the gulf stream to lift all boats and fix Brandon's knees.
When Kenny Vance first reported that KP was starting to wear out his welcome it was during that same off-season; he reported that he'd heard rumblings about ownership losing faith in KP when he was at Summer League, first it was the Hedo debacle and questions about KP's ability to negotiate and lure free agents and then when KP all but publicly sided with Brandon and his camp saying that he deserved the max extension (effectively negotiating against his own boss). People like to think KP was fired without grounds, but you can see hints even back then why he might have gotten himself on Allen's bad side.
This guy was spot on with many things. I never heard of him either but man he was very informed. Perhaps the best 2 hours i have heard anyone talking blazers in a while. Brutally honest. I think many on here would need some pepto before listening to that. Im serious. most of it was about why kpee was fired and lots of behind scenes stuff. He talks future at end about roy, oden, la.
Coming from Bobby Corser? lol I used to pick that guys brain about basketball when I worked at the RG. That guy has no clue what he's talking about. Shit, even the Ducks which he follows closely he was clueless about. We'd go at it for awhile and then I'd ask him a question he didn't know about and he'd walk away and ignore me. Bobby Corser is simply a voice. His sports knowledge is limited.
