Why dont the Bulls start Deng and your other good bench players over guys like Songaila?

Deng is a small forward where Nocioni is.

Sweetney needs to get fitter/faster to start according to Skiles. (there is an article on it in the forum somewhere)

Warrios are in the groove tonight. Foyle gets 11 first half boards and the W's are hard to beat. Frankly,Bulls D was a lot better the earlier game and I expected close tonight. We had a sucky game a few nights ago...it just happens.

I'm quite impressed with Luol Deng...long arms, quick, elusive...scary.

You know what I mean. Even in the pregame show the announcers were saying your bench is almost better than your starters. Why are they starting if they are not as good?

It is not that they are not as good. Scott Skiles is the kind of guy that prefers to have scrappy defenders, and hard working players in the starting lineup over guys he feels lack something that he wants them to have. With Sweetney as previously mentioned it is his size, and lack of mobility compared to some of the other power forwards in the game right now. He is a efficient scorer, but a defensive liability something Skiles preaches as the main area a player needs to focus on being good at. With Luol Deng it is a different situation, though. In his case he was injured last year towards the end of the season, and Nocioni replaced him in the starting lineup he performed well for the Bulls during that stretch. So coming into this year Skiles did not want to hand Deng the starting spot and essential demote Andres without giving him the light of day. Deng struggled in the preseason a bit thus giving the starting spot to Andres. He has come on during these last few games though (He being Deng) and many expect him to start soon. Even though, Skiles has said he intends to keep this starting group together barring injuries.

Another thing is that Skiles makes early substitutions in almost every Bulls game. During the Bulls/Nets game Skiles inserted three bench players only four minutes into the first quarter. So you can say starting in the Skiles system is overrated. Skiles also has it in his mind that the starting unit although it tends to fall behind early tires out the opposing teams starting lineup with there hard nosed defense. Allowing our bench players to come in, and use their above average scoring abilities to take advantage of the fatigued starters, and second unit of the opponents. In short it is not that they are not as good, but each player excels in a different area of the game Andres and Darius do it on defense while Deng, Gordon, and Sweetney excel on offense. And although Deng, Sweetney, and Gordon do not start they often play more minutes then the people who do Songaila is averaging a little under twenty minutes a game this season, and he starts while Sweetney is averaging about 22.

Splitting the season series is not bad. The Warriors deserved to win this game the Bulls played like crap again only two guys reached double figures in scoring, and the Bulls shot under 40% from the field. Sweetney was a none factor in the second half only scoring one point after having six in the first half, and Ben Gordon was horrible. Good luck to the Warriors their defense is one of the most underrated in the league they frustrated the Bulls to the point where it was embarrassing to watch as a Bulls fan.

Yeah I dont know if it was our defense or your team just shot poorly. Oh well you are going to have games like that just like you will have game where you shoot on fire. This game was like an negative of the game last week. You guys shot so many more shots than we did like we did against you last time...

We split the series, but that doesn't mean the teams won't meet again this season... Am I being a little too optimistic? haha

The Bulls impressed me in the first game but I expected the Warriors to come out big in this one. What suprised me was the Warriors defense. They made Hinrich a non factor which was huge. I still think the Bulls could be successful this season. Good luck to you guys.
