You should know better than to use simple logic like that. Every team matches up differently. We've owned Pitt in recent history & Denver has owned us.

Your right, there is no such thing as simple logic when dealing with Pats fans. I made the statement to point out the wishy washy nature of Patriot logic. On one hand, a person would have to be a fool to not see that the Pats matched up better with the Jags than the "red hot" Steelers even though the Steelers were a sixth seed wildcard and not really seen as "red hot" when the playoffs started. On the other hand, it's obvious that the Patriots would have beaten the Steelers since they have "owned" them like the Broncos have owned the Patriots in recent history. You can't say that it was smart to lose to the Dolphins to dodge the Steelers then say that you KNOW the Patriots would have beaten the Steelers because you own them. Those two statements contradict one another.

Of course, that doesn't take into account that the Dolphins @ Patriots was an early game, so I'm not sure how the Patriots would have known who their opponent would have been the next week going into that game. You COULD argue that the Pats lost because they were resting Brady and trying to keep him from getting an injury, but I would counter that that argument is subjective, at best, because the Dolphins would have had more film on Brady, so facing Flutie made it more difficult to gameplan for what the Patriots would do with Flutie at QB turning that into an advantage for the Patriots. The bottom line is that Patriot fans seem to have an excuse for any loss while claiming their superiority to other teams regardless of the fact that they loss to or haven't played the other team.

I'm glad to see you edited your original snide remark. This was certainly more "meaningful" to the Pats than last season's regular season finale where it was clearly to our benefit to loss that game. By losing that game we avoided the red hot Steelers in favor of the inexperienced Jags.</div>
I'm glad you like my diplomacy... Some things have more impact when they are implied.

As previously stated, The Pats lost on purpose (in last years finale) to get a lower seed? Makes Perfect sense... I'm glad a Pats fan gets that because I sure don't. Dale probably can't decipher the logic either.

I suppose we should cut him some slack. The Pats lost to the phins.... I'm surpised that the whole state of Massachusetts isn't in morning all day.

Playoffs? Are you serious? With them playing football like this I don't think they will make it. Like yesterday, they WILL find some way to completely flop to where they couldn't even compete with a 5-A high school team. That loss yesterday was pathetic. What is even worse is that Bruschi was laughing and joking around with the Dolphins players on the field after the game. I didn't see him look down or frown once. Not even once. I honestly don't think this team cares anymore. Seriously, most of the guys on the team have 3 rings and they have been paid. IOW, they got theirs and now it is someone else's turn.

That said, I'm willing to bet that that "someone" will be the Chargers. None of them (that I know of) have a Super Bowl ring and they are hungry and they have the desire and motivation that the Pats once had. The Chargers will go to and take the Super Bowl this year, IMO. There isn't anyone in the NFC that can take them and there probably isn't anyone in the AFC that can either. I know, I know, any given Sunday. But you have to admit that the Chargers are on fire right now.

Woo hoo for us. Seriously, why should we even care anymore now that it is obvious that the players don't give a shit if they win or lose? I'm DAMN glad I didn't buy any Pats gear this year. Maybe I'll buy a Tomlinson jersey this year. He seems to give a shit if his team wins or loses. That guy commands respect. The Pats simply do not command respect this year. I hope you're happy Pats players, the NFL thinks you're a joke.

Funny I chose a LT jersey for my prize over a Lauence Maroney one.

How can you say with a straight face the Pats were playing to win with Doug Flutie & Matt Cassel at QB over Brady?

I don't know. All I know is that I'm VERY pissed at our team right now. Fans should start taking spoiled eggs to the games in case another Dolphins performance happens. They need to be humiliated after a game like that.

yea know everyone plays like that some times.. we did agianst miami too.. miami handed us our ass on a plate.. And so what if he was joking around on the field??? were u in on the conversation??? did u hear what was being said???.. if i were him i would be joking too.. I would be like omg you whipped our ass.. chuckle chuckle.. So he wasn't all pissed off.. there are cameras all over the damn place who is to say he didn't go back and then get all down about it??? all u saw was him on the field where he is supposed to be PROFESSIONAL!!!!!!!!

i guess Pats fans its all or nothing.. win the big one or you suck.. i guess this is the attitude 3 superbowl rings get ya... Should take yourself back to a time before u won the 3 superbowls and how it felt to watch your team lose all the time.. opposed to how it is now.. I think The 3 SB rings have tarnished pats fans in to expectations that aren't easy to provide... you guys put your team so high on a pedistal.. that if u lose its an utter disappointment

So, what your really saying is that Tom Brady is the sole reason that the Patriots are any good at all. If Brady doesn't play, then the Patriots can't possibly be trying to actually win a game. That's sad. That doesn't say much about the rest of the team.

If I'm not mistaken but didn't New England play their backups at most of their positions for that game? I remember watching it and figuring New England would do as much. That was last year and New England probably didn't gameplan for that game as much as they should of. I did read that they were already preparing for Jacksonville.

Now this past week on the other hand was a spanking and clearly exposed New England for the playoffs. Much like the Colts got exposed. I'm thinking Chargers vs. Ravens AFC Title game.

If the Pats are better than the Broncos because they keep losing to 'em than yeah the logic behind the Pats objective whenever Cadillac Tommy doesn't play makes perfect sense.

Don't fall into the same trap as the DWO. Pats fans may be spoiled, but we're not that far removed from the days when a .500 season was considered a great success. When you get beat handily like we did on Sunday I see nothing wrong with chuckling it up with friends on the opponent's side. Some fans get too concerned with how player's react to winning & losing. I don't like to see Brady get all agitated at his teammates, but I understand his frustration. No the team doesn't solely rely on Brady. However when he loses his composure like that it translates throughout the rest of the team. It was a bad loss, but as everyone knows the NFL is a week to week league. Not having that bye will make it very difficult to advance far into the playoffs, but as Pitt showed last year if you get hot at the right time it can be done. The top team is clearly SD right now. Did I mention they were my preseason favorite btw? [IMG]

Call me spoiled or whatever you want, but I feel like I have every right to be pissed off after that kind of failure. That was a complete meltdown in every aspect of the game and I thought that Bruschi of all people should at least have a frown on his face. At least Tom did. He got straight up MOLESTED out there against the Dolphins and he was pissed off about it. I'm sure he still is. What happened to our "bad ass" o-line that we're supposed to have and that we paid big money for? Were they on muscle relaxers or something? Their play was horrible and the Dolphins d-line penetrated them like a cruise missle.

Anyway, GREAT game by the Dolphins in every aspect. You guys beat the shit out of us and that is all there is to it. Too bad you guys weren't playing like this at the start of the season or else the AFC East would be all yours. Maybe next year.

I guess I just don't believe in getting too high or too down when there's still much to play for. I didn't proclaim the Pats were destined to get ring #4 when we beat the Bears & I'm not giving up on the season now. The best thing the team can do now is forget about this one & move on to the next game.

Same trap as the DWO? You mean being an objective fan with realistic expectations? Nice try at spinning things on us. You may not have proclaimed Super Bowl #4, but you spit on the notion that the Dolphins might compete with the Patriots this year. It turns out that the Dolphins did get off to too slow of a start, but have proven recently that the thought that this team can play some pretty decent football wasn't a silly notion. Just be glad that Saban didn't turn to Harrington a couple of games quicker or you might be in a dogfight right now. (Not that I'm blaming Saban. Hindsight is 20/20.) Is it hard to enjoy a season that looked like it was going be a big losing season? Yes. Do I enjoy having the Dolphins out of playoff contention? No. If you haven't noticed, I haven't let it stop me from enjoying Dolphin victories over teams whose fan base like to talk smack then get their butts whupped. Anyone care to tell me how the Dolphins have no heart or talent again?

Who said they have no heart or talent? And I don't recall ever saying the Dolphins couldn't compete with the Pats. I predicted on another board that we'd win this past Sunday, but only by a FG margin.

Do you really believe Joey Harrington is the future of this franchise? What about Culpepper?

If and when Culpepper is healthy he should probably be the starter. I think he can and will be better than Harrington.

On a different subject, I wonder if Brady was upset that Cassel took over at the end of the game? Do you think they did that so that Taylor would crush Cassel instead of Brady?[IMG]
