For me, it came down to who is the better combo between MJ/Pippen and Wade/Lebron. Since I will not need to lean on MJ as much for scoring since I have four other hall of famers to surround him, I am going with Lebron/Wade for defensive purposes. I then take Robertson, KG, and Wilt. We would get 50 points a game on fast breaks alone and would be holding teams in the 80's.
Only one player can have the ball so it's critical to have players who play well off the ball. Dirk provides the court spacing at the PF spot to make this groups offense unstoppable. As great as Duncan and Malone are the defense can force them to shoot long jumpers when doubling Jordan. Sure those two would be fine shooting open jumpers but Dirk, Bird, Stockton would be elite. Stockton $2 Jordan $5 Bird $4 Dirk $2 Akeem $1 Still got a buck left to bring KG off the bench.
Fraizer - 1 Jordan - 5 Pippen - 1 Duncan - 3 Russel - 4 It's hard for me to pick between KG or Duncan. Before KG's knee injury in Boston he was able to honestly guard all 5 positions. There are very few players in NBA history while being listed at 6"11 that were as versatile as KG. BTW. if we're going for todays NBA I want a young AI at point. His quickness would give bigger point guards of the 80's and 90's troubles.
Weird bump but fun to look at. Made me even think about where Curry would fit, if Duncan would be higher up today than when this was made, etc. Good times. EDIT: Or even where coaches would fit in...Red, Phil, Pop, Riley, etc.
C - Hakeem Olajuwon $1 Pf - Kevin Garnett $1 Sf - Lebron James $5 Sg - Michael Jordan $5 Pg - Jason Kidd (although he's not on the list) Leftover: $3 Hakeem and KG can realistically guard all 5 positions and both were DPOY winners. KG can also hit midrange shots consistently while Hakeem dominates the block. Lebron and Michael are also the best all-time defenders at their positions. Both improved their 3 point shot and will get easy buckets with Jason Kidd handling the ball. Both can also handle the ball well and make plays. Jason Kidd, at 6'4 could guard most pgs (9 all defensive team selections) and is a pass first pg. Without the ball, he'll be able to spot up (4th all time is 3's made).
Stockton great defender and shooter works perfect with Jordan dominating the ball Jordan enough said Pippen played perfectly with Jordan if it ain't broke don't fix it Duncan barely gets the edge over Garnett but with Jordan as my vocal leader the big fundamental can just sit back and do his thing Russell dude is a proven winner and arguably the best defender in NBA history gets the nod over Olajuwon
$5 Jordan, You have to start with MJ..... $4 Bird, The Bird -LeBron decision was really tough for me at SF. But with the others around the basket, not much room for LeBron to do what he does best and that is attacking the basket. Bird could do it all. $ 3 Duncan I was tempted by Dirks outside shooting but went with defense $ 2 Stockton $1 Hakeem
I can't afford it but the 5 best players I've ever seen play (meaning the last 25 years) are Jordan, Shaq, Hakeem, Duncan, and LeBron.
