No too players are completely alike, and I doubt Bosh will ever be as versitlie as KG, but you can't knock Bosh for not being able to do something at 19 that KG can do at 25...KG couldn't guard positions 1-5 when he was 19 years old either...

    ^ ummm..I think u misunderstood him...read again [IMG]</div>

Which seven footer would you rather have switching out on a point guard and playing out on the wing? Bosh? Duncan? Nowitzki? Shaq? My vote goes to KG. KG's quick enough to step out and guard the wing while tall enough to play the post. That's versatility. If you yourself don't think Bosh will ever be as versatile as KG then comparing Bosh and Garnett at any age would be a moot point.

I agree, but at what point would you want KG playing PG? At 7 feet you really dont need to focus on how you can be able to play point. You should work on your post moves and thats what KG has been doing and thats what Bosh should do and will do. Do you have a problem with people saying Bosh is the next KG? I dont think anyone said he will be better.

Again, you're talking about KG TODAY...Could KG at age 19 switch out on guards as effectively as he does today at age 25 (or however old he is) ?? This thread is asking for our opinion on any young players that can develop to be KG or T-Mac...Bosh is a 19 year old kid who is playing as well as KG did when he was 19...It's not fair for you to compare a 19 year old Bosh to a 25 year old KG....I can easily say that there will never be a KG ever again...and that might be true...but for the purpose of the topic, Bosh <u>has the best chance</u> IMO among all the young players of making a KG-esque impact...

<div class="quote_poster">Quoting Krazygreen:</div><div class="quote_post">Its easy to jump on the bandwagon of lebron james and carmelo anthony, even kevin garnett because hes having a good season...

its anothing thing being a loyal fan and sticking through the turmoil kobe and the lakers have through this season and supporting them....

honestly, people dont talk about tmac until he has a 62 point game? your kidding me right? where were you when he was struggling to win 1 game...of course, people forgot about tmac, but 62 points, brings fans attention back....with me its different, i will never jump on the lebron or carmelo wagon, even if they win rings, scoring titles, mvps, they could always kiss my ass.</div>

Who's jumping on what bandwagon? Being a loyal fan does not mean blind faith. Just because I'm from LA and the Lakers are my team doesn't necessarily change my opinion that I think Sacramento is playing the best basketball in the NBA right now. Am I jumping on the Sacramento bandwagon now? Do I think Kobes deserving of the MVP because he plays for my team? Hell no. Far from it.

If you can't objectively look at the game basketball and analyze it from the inside out then you shouldn't call yourself a fan. Everyone's opinion should be respected as long there is a valid support for it. I can't respect anybody's opinion if their argument is along the lines of : "Kobe is the best player because he's my favorite"

just by stating that sacramento is playing the best ball in the nba, only 5 games ahead of the injury depleted lakers (who for only 5 games behind the "Great" kings, are doing pretty damn good) states to me that you are no laker fan...period, never consider yourself a fan of the lakers.

When did I say he should play PG? I'm saying because of his versatility he can step up and defend the 1 positin IF he needed to. Do you think Shaq, Duncan or Bosh can do that better than KG? No, I don't have a problem with people saying Bosh with be the next KG. I just don't agree with that, and one of the primary reasons, as I've repeatedly tried to point out, is his versatility.

The topic of this thread states "Who will be the NEXT KG....". not who "not who has the best chance" Yes, you are right there are other things that Garnett can do well besides defend such score, rebound, assist, run the floor of which the definition of versatility has already encompassed.

why do people say LeBron is the next___________(fill in the blank) or that Mello is the next T-Mac. In a few years they will be saying _________(fill in the blank) is the next LeBron. LeBron is the one and only LeBron Kobe is the one and only Kobe KG is the one and only KG. There is not a single player who wants to be the next __________(fill in the blank) every player is creating their own identity.
Anyway, the up and coming superstars in the NBA are
    Ndubi Ebi
    Kwame Brown
    Juan Dixon
Udonis Haslem (sorry if I spelled that wrong Accord)
    Josh Howard
    Carlos Boozer
    Kieth Bogans

someone devoted to the team as a whole, respects what kobe and shaq have done for them, as well as the role players (rick fox, glen rice, robert horry, d-fish, even mark madsen)

someone who doesnt give sacramento credit (come on, you know how much the lakers hate sacramento, and how much sacramento hates LA, their fans hate us more then anything)

someone who believes that through all the turmoil of this season, they will win it all, with the passion that had once led them to 3 titles....

bringing respect back to the laker organization, as well as southern california, something we didnt see for more then 10 years.

believing that they are unbeatable, and having no doubt that any team can come in the way of that.

sticking with them through the thick and the thin, during hard times, during good times, losses and wins, trials and tribulations, feeling for kobe, sticking behind him through everything hes gone through.

not losing hope that shaq is still the dominant player he has always been, since when do the lakers not produce in the playoffs? besides last season, which saw an injured shaq and kobe struggle to beat the spurs....when healthy, no one could stop shaq, dont you believe in that theory?

come on man, i could go on forever.

I agree with dexter. Players will want to make a name for themselves rather than trying to become 'the next...'

Remember a while back, Kobe was compared to Michael Jordan, and we all know how that one turned out. Sometimes players are just too talented for comparisons.

There will never be another Tracy McGrady, Kevin Garnett, Kobe Bryant, Tim Duncan, etc. Players nowadays are becoming so versatile, it's impossible to match their game style.

The only player I would compare would be Emeka Okafor/Ben Wallace, only because I've heard he's a lot like Big Ben. He hasn't played an NBA thus far, but watching him in UCONN reminds me of Ben's game style. He has more offense, but isn't as ferocious.

Theres several players to watch out for in the near future.

Lebron James, he's lived up to the hype.

Gilbert Arenas will run the offense in Washington, and his future is looking very bright. He just had a 40 point outing that was overlooked by McGrady's 62. He finally has a heathly team, now we can see what he's made of.

Winning ballgames for Milwaukee, Michael Redd could turn into something special. He's instant offense and deadly on the 3 point line.

Finally given minutes in Portland, Zach Randolph has turned his game around. He's now averaging a double double while playing the strong power fowards out west.

Oh god, please stop you sound like a religous nut.

What the hell does giving another team credit have anything to do with being a Laker fan? Were you there when James Worthy said that the Lakers no longer have that invincible Aura? That other teams such as Sacramento are no longer afraid of them? To which Rick Fox wholeheartedly agrees? Does that make James or Rick any less of Laker? Anytime Phil Jackson criticizes his own team makes him less of Laker? Are so closed minded about your own team that you can no longer have an objective opinion?

<div class="quote_poster">Quoting Krazygreen:</div><div class="quote_post">its one thing to give props, its another to forget that the league already has established stars, and try to make these guys the focal point of the league, when u have players who have busted their ass for many years to get to where they are, and have these two guys get a free pass to superstardom, thats ridiculous to me.....jerseys sell well because if one person has one, everyone has to have one. merchendise, endorsements, i mean, this guy is just nothing more then a MARKETED athlete

he plays 40 minutes a game, how do his stats reflect through those 40 minutes, low fg shooting, 20 points, 5 boards and assists, come on man, RONALD FLIP MURRAY was throwing better numbers up playing 40 minutes in the start of the season for the sonics. give me 40 minutes to be the facilitator, pg, sg, and sf of a team, shoot as many times as i want, and ill make 40% of my shots and distribute 5 assists. ridiculous hype....kobe and tmac played 15 minutes a game as a rookie, their stats are low because of that.</div>

Hmm I know this a little harsh, but I kinda agree with him, if KG, Tmac or Kobe in their rookie year were put on a team as the main man and were allowed to take 19 shots per game and play 40 minutes a game, they wouldn't do worse than Lebron is. I mean if Tmac or KG had about 19 shots a game in their rookie years, they would probably have put up about 21-23 ppg. Even in 2001, Tmac averaged 25 taking 20.9 shots a game, 1.8 more the LJ this year.

He is right that thier is too much focused around them, like everyone saying they were jipped when they didn't make the All-Star team even though their were better players putting up better numbers and winning more.

I like them both, but I'm not someone that really follows hype like I am a slave to it.

So in the end its not of much use to the team.

Anyways I think what people mean as the "Next" so and so is in the numbers tha playrs put up, not how they play on the court.

He's trying to say who will be the next guy that can score a lot, get about 6-7 boards and about 5-6 dimes (next Tmac), and the next big man that will be able to score, rebound well and dish the ball while also being somewhat atheletic and quick.

"I don't want to to be the next MJ, I wanna be the first Kobe Bryant." quoted by Kobe in his early years.

His ability to guard those positions is just an example of his versatility. I agree it would be bad basketball to leave him out there to chase guards all night long. That is obviously not playing into his strengths but he COULD do it, and do it better than any 7 footer I know. Maybe it's because I watch the Lakers more than you do but Shaq's reluctance/inability to come out and cover guards on the pick and roll really makes me appreciate Garnett's skill.

Garnett is 20-10-5 guy. I don't see alot of first and second year guys who have the potential to put up those numbers. I can see Amare being a 20-10 guy and Lebron being a 20-7-7 guy.
