<div class="quote_poster">Quoting Rock4life:</div><div class="quote_post">NEWSFLASH: Who was bodying up Finley and Stackhouse in the playoffs? Stackhouse KILLED us. All he did was post Wesley up, and shoot over him (same for Finley) every time down court. It look like he was playin his lil brother in the driveway. Wesley's a scrappy defender, but to say his is better than DA's is really REACHING. Just ask San Antonio. When they had DA they RAVED about his defensive energy. He's taller, quicker, and faster than Wesley EVER WAS. </div> Stackhouse only shot 40.2% from the field in the playoffs against us...minus FTs, he scored 75 points on 82 shots...not a great ratio...Finley did well, shooting 45%, but he still only managed 92 points on 79 shots, which is about average I would say...Wesley forced players to shoot fadeaways or turnarounds because players dont realize how strong and solid he is...rarely will anyone drive or penetrate on him...its alright that we dont see eye to eye, thats what makes debate fun...
^ You gotta stop kidding yourself. I like Wesley but he was abused by Stackhouse and Finley. Did you watch the games? I think your relying to heavily on stats and not judging the individual matchups. Hey, I got a stat for ya, 35%. That was Wesley's percentage from the field, a far cry from 40% and 45%.

Wesley guarded Stackhouse and Finley most of the time, so yes, this is in fact judging stats and individuals matchups at the same time. I have a stat for you too, Anderson shot .389 from the field for the season. At least Wesley stayed consistent and was pretty effective for the most part.
Rock4life, we've already had this argument about Wesley's defense before, so I don't know why you would want to bring it up again. You might never think the way some others do, but there should be a time when we all move on and agree to disagree. Your opinion is respected and appreciated, but it's going to be pointless if everyone keeps going in circles. We've already told you about Stackhouse's shooting percentages during the series, and to say he KILLED us is totally off basis. Someone can score 30 points a game, but if it takes him 40 shots and 35% shooting to get there, the defense has done a good job. Wesley guarded the Mavericks' two best wing players in the playoffs, and he was able to deter them and cause them to lose their regular effectiveness. The fact is that the Mavericks tried to exploit Wesley's size disadvantage by giving Stackhouse a lot of post ups, but Stackhouse didn't make those shots. Wesley's lateral quickness is very good, no one could beat him off the dribble consistently, and he is definitely one of, if not the best, perimeter defenders on the team.
