Another way to look at it. The Lakers added THE guy with one of the highest bball IQ's in history and won 5 championships, the first one in year 1. The Celtics added a similar guy and went from 29 wins to 61 wins and win the championship in year 2.</div>

Are you insinuating Aldridge and Bogut should be as good as Magic and Bird?

Celtics' Pierce handcuffed during traffic stop in LV

    REVIEW-JOURNAL

The Boston Celtics' Paul Pierce, the most valuable player in the 2008 NBA Finals, was handcuffed by Las Vegas police early Sunday after he was initially uncooperative following a traffic stop for driving erratically on the Strip.

Bill Cassell, public information officer for the Metropolitan Police Department, said he did not have the details about why Pierce was cuffed but said it often happens when "an individual is loudly hostile."

"You have to remember he's a big guy," Cassell said.

Pierce, a forward who is 6 feet 7 inches tall and weighs 235 pounds, "rapidly calmed down," and police removed the handcuffs after about 15 minutes, Cassell said.

"We find this happens a lot of times," Cassell said. "Someone is a little agitated, and when they're placed in handcuffs, they rethink things."

The traffic stop occurred around 3 a.m. near Las Vegas Boulevard and Tropicana Avenue, Cassell said.

Officers gave Pierce field sobriety tests, which often take up to an hour, he said.

A Breathalyzer showed Pierce registered below the 0.08 level that defines legal intoxication in Nevada.

Pierce did not drive the car after he was stopped.

"He made a decision to have one of the valets park his car for the night," Cassell said.

Police did not cite Pierce for a traffic infraction.

"We don't cite everybody we stop," Cassell said. "Sometimes we give just a verbal warning. It's based on the totality of the circumstances."

Pierce, a frequent NBA all-star, led the Celtics to the NBA championship over the Los Angeles Lakers in June.

So now we are comparing Bogut and LMA to MVP and HOF'ers. Right.
    </div>

They may well be HOFers. The jury's out on that one, eh?

Your frontcourt might win a championship 4 or 5 years from now, because I do think the players will get smarter to go along with their physical skills.

In my book, the best player on your team is Durant; by the time he does figure the game out, he's going to be Kobe-like. He's obviously not Kobe-like now. And he's your primary scorer, so far.

    Lots of luck with that.
    </div>

How much basketball do you watch these days? The occasional game on ABC?

Ah, the old "how much hoops do you watch?" dodge.

    Yawn.

I've had NBA LP since before the Bulls were champs and watch lots of games and have seen all the teams play more than once (last season).

Yes, a team built around Bogut, Aldridge, and Durant is made to win now. Yes, I know your point is about BBIQ right now, but Aldridge and Bogut are both smart players already

Yet his team won it all.

Also take a couple of steps back to the Heat team that won it all in 2006.

Are you stating Antoine Walker has a high bball IQ?

Yeah Outlaw taken way too early, hes only a good bench player. He can't work within an offense, hence why he isn't starting. He has to be the go to guy on offense and loves to run a lot of iso. He's also not a good slasher, hes an unblockable jump shooter.

His defense is overrated, he had a couple great ESPN highlights where he played great D at the end of a couple games. But generally I think he is a below average defender.

Well you had me fooled, I'll tell you that.

Some of the stuff you are saying about LMA and Bogut being stupid players is just mind boggling. Absolutely mind boggling. Do me a personal favor this year, and watch about 10 Bucks games.

Aldridge isn't a stupid player by any means. He's actually pretty smart.

Don't know about Bogut as I haven't been able to watch many games of him.

Hey, pre-season, I was talking up the Hawks as the dark horse team to watch. They took the Celtics to 7 games in the playoffs and almost beat them.

My take on Portland is they're going to be a slow, plodding, half-court team that may not at all be as well constructed as people think. And Atlanta is still the team to watch in the East, along with the Magic. Boston's still the favorite.

    LOL

Again, when the facts aren't on your side, the best strategy is to attack the person you're debating. Old, worn out tactic.

I can see you can't handle it when someone dumps a little on your team, like you dump on others'.

You can't measure basketball IQ in numbers and stats, which seem to be your forte, so I don't know what to tell you. IMO, the best way to see something like that is to watch players and see how they are on the court. You saying that LMA and Bogut are stupid players tells me you don't watch them. When I state that, it's not ad-hominem.
