No way in hell was Barnes a top 5-10 prospect. At best hes a bottom of the rotation pitcher.

Garko was a huge fail regardless though. Wonder what we could have got with Alderson and Barnes combined...

Doesn't sound like Posey is an option to be a full-time guy yet.

missed the boat on cameron and johnson imo, they would have fit in nicely, as well as trading rowand for bradley.

    bradley cf
    posey c
    johnson 1b
    pablo 3b
    sanchez 2b
    cameron lf
    bowker? shierholtz? rf
    rentareahhh ss

almost looks like an acceptable lineup

Hard to see Jason Bay turning down the money from the Mets.

Don't mind it if its only 6 mil a year over two seasons. What do you guys think of the offseason if our only major acquisitions are DeRosa and Dye? It would leave us with something like this:

    CF Rowand
    2B Freddy Sanchez
    3B Mark DeRosa
    1B Pablo
    LF Dye
    RF Schierholtz
    C Posey(?)
    SS Renteria
    P

Bench: Uribe, Velez, Torres, Bowker (?), Whiteside

I'm assuming Renteria gets SS over Uribe and that we opt for Schierholtz over Velez because Velez and Dye in the same OF is just too poor defensively and Schierholtz plays a damn good RF.

declining overpaid players who cant get on base and strike out too much.

i still say we swoop on uggla and move derosa to lf

Jermaine Dye is the best we can do? Man...

The Giants should just play in a different league. The MLB Senior League.

G's signed Aubrey Huff, reportedly 1 year at 3 mil. Don't mind it but are we ever going to sign any LEGIT every day, middle of the lineup hitters? Huff could be a great value if he goes back to his 08 numbers but this isn't the impact move we need. Wonder what we're doing with the money we saved by getting Huff at 3 mil instead of the 8 mil we offered to LaRoche. More old guys I would think.

we have actually been spending good money in international signings and in the draft, hopefully that will continue.

Huff is penciled in at cleanup. Bochy's 1-5 hitters are Rowand, Sanchez, Pablo, Huff, DeRosa. Bochy says Nate is the favorite at RF but its an open competition with Bowker (maybe Torres is in the mix plus he says he'll try Huff out in the outfield during spring training to see how it goes- perhaps Uribe sneaks into the everyday lineup). I'd be very happy if Nate won the job. He plays a good RF at ATT, gives us some speed, and hes a good hitter. If Bowker puts it together this year that'd be nice to though. What do you guys think of the following lineup:

    CF- Rowand
    2B- Sanchez
    3B- Sandoval
    1B- Huff
    LF- DeRosa
    RF- Schierholtz (?)
    SS- Renteria (?)
    C- ????????
    P

Despite my disappointment in our offensive additions I actually think that lineup is alright. Any good catchers left in free agency?

much better than last year, but still woefully below average unless rowand can draw 65 walks and rentareahhh can bat .280.

also i think the best free agent catcher is benjie lol, id rather start posey, and hopefully have him be a solid top of the order hitter by the end of the year.
