There's a blog going on ESPN.com over the U/A All American practices. Here's a link and some tidbits from each day. http://espn.go.com/college-football/recruiting/?topId=5982623 Day 1 Speedy Sumler 1:33 pm ET -- Ducks pledge Tacoi Sumler is really tough to handle in space. He's a very difficult matchup for linebackers, has made a few nice plays finding space on option routes, and is picking up additional yardage after the catch. Blackmon for six 1:02 pm ET -- Devon Blackmon hauls in a touchdown during seven-on-seven's while Clowney uses a good speed rush and was active with his hands to dominate fellow five-star Cyrus Kouandjio in one-on-ones. Getting a kick out of it 12:51 pm ET -- USC commit Andre Heidari and Texas A&M-bound Taylor Bertolet are both punting very well. Not surprising, Tacoi Sumler is a weapon in the kick return game and will likely contribute immediately there at Oregon Catching on quickly 12:02 p.m. ET -- Devon Blackmon looking smooth at receiver. He was more of a jack-of-all trades in high school. Blackmon, who is expected to pick Oregon, UCLA or USC, looks very good for a kid without a ton of experience at receiver. Making presence felt 12:30 pm ET -- Jadeveon Clowney's coach Bobby Carroll is really impressed with two linebackers who didn't come to Orlando with the most hype; Oregon pledge Anthony Wallace and future Tar Heel Travis Hughes. Day 2 Tough to beat 2:45 pm ET -- Anthony Wallace continues to impress with his athleticism turning and running with polished pass-catching tight end Ben Koyack, who's headed to Notre Dame. Primary returner 2:37 pm ET -- Red Team using Devon Blackmon as the primary return man during a kickoff drill. Heated Bellamy 2:27 p.m. ET -- Clemson commit Mike Bellamy is having a spirited "conversation" with his running backs coach after he missed him with a pass. Bellamy wanted the ball because he can make plays. Bellamy backed up his talk on the next rep beating Anthony Wallace, a future Duck, on a fly route. Bellamy remains visibly upset during inside run drills. Day 3 Devon's diving catch Devon Blackmon beats Nick Waisome for a touchdown with a diving catch. Sunseri showing good instincts 11:19 am ET -- Alabama linebacker commit Vinnie Sunseri is showing great instincts and the ability to quickly plug a running lane. Oregon commit Tacoi Sumler's hands and route running are extremely underrated. Blackmon keeping everyone in suspense 10:12 a.m. ET -- Blackmon, one of the standouts so far this week, says he knows which school he will select during Wednesday's game but is going to "wait to tell everyone". USC, UCLA and Oregon are his finalists.
I really hope Sumler doesnt get pulled away when taking other visits like its rumored he is doing. Thanks for the updates!
the first of the two All-American games is on this Wednesday night...Duck prospects listed below Under Armour (Wednesday January 5th, 4PM Pacific ESPN) LB Anthony Wallace (Commit) WR Tacoi Sumler (Commit) WR Devon Blackmon (Game Announcement) WR Ju'Juan Story OL Andre Yruretagoyena (Commit) OL Christian Westerman DT Christian Heyward DT Kevin McReynolds ATH Marqise Lee U.S. Army All-American Bowl (Saturday January 8th, 10 AM Pacific, NBC) TE Christian French (Commit) OL Tyler Johnstone (Commit) DT Viliami Moala (Game Announcement) DE Delvon Simmons LB Lamar Dawson ATH Colt Lyerla (Game Announcement) STOMP
don't forget they've also 4* WR Rahsaan Vaughn and 4* TE Christian French... things are already good enough to be pretty psyched about the future receivers STOMP
Well as of today UCLA is letting go of Norm Chow their offensive coordinator. They also let go their receivers coach according to Justin Hopkins from Duckterritory. In my opinion, that is huge for us if we're going to get Blackmon, as UCLA seemed to be his number 2. I don't think he goes to USC now that Farmer is there.
Blackmon's Wednesday morning tweet to an obnoxious Bruins fan.... UCLA stands for u clowns lose again STOMP
That tweet could eliminate UCLA, but also could mean that he is choosing USC and just working the UCLA/USC rivalry, no?
the UA game will be at 4:00 I believe? I wont be home till like 5:45 tonight.. if anyone sees any Ducks targets announce until then, if they have a chance to post on here would be greatly appreciated thanks!
for me anyway, it's not worth getting worked up over losing out on any kid's decision as they are just kids after all. The Oregon experience isn't for everyone... thats going to continue to be the case. Besides, if it's between USC and UCLA I'd rather see him go to USC and get lost in shuffle of their deep talented receivers then give Hundley a gamebreaker. STOMP
It's more about how he led on the Duck fanbase. I'll be pissed only because I think it will be fucked up how played with us (if he chooses USC).
Guys, it's been this way for a long time and will continue to be. Having commitments is kinda like going steady. The marriage doesn't happen until LOI Day, and even then there is no guarantee the FR will ever see the field (competition, drop outs, eligibility, injury, etc.)
yep... its hard to remember sometimes.. these are 18 and sometimes 17 year old High School kids.. they will act like it at times.
Yeah, but it couldn't have been like this in the past because there was no twitter or facebook. The fact that these kids can get so much exposure simply of their own accord is what's driving someone like Blackmon to seek so much attention. He does because he can.
I guess we are just waiting on Blackmon. I'm watching currently. Will keep ya'll up to date if i see something.
