I'll tell you this Ghost Pepper, Cal has benefited greatly with all the sanctions and the changing of coaches at USC. Had USC not had that happen to them, half of these recruits would probably be all USC. So it's really not that hard to believe Cal landed this special class due to everything that's happened.

I'll also tell you that 2013 is shaping up to be a special year for the Ducks. We have our name on many top recruit's list next year. So don't worry about Cal especially since you've been maintaining the fact that we are 3 time Pac-12 champs. Things are looking bright.

I'm not worried about the Ducks! I agree we'll be fine, that said I'd love to have had Ellis McCarthy, I think he'll be a special defensive player, Shaq seems like a ego maniac and Arik will have a hard time being great at football if he wants to play hoops too, which seems to be why he chose Cal, to play both.

I still think it's odd Cal got them all, but so be it and I'll drop it now!

One way to really hurt Cal's recruiting is if their number one recruiter were to leave. Though it would be to our much hated rivals up north.

Well, since we lost the recruiting battle they're ego maniacs and don't have their priorities on football.....

    Amateurish.

I don't understand why these kids verbal if they're still interested in visiting schools. I'm of the train of thought, you visit all the schools you're interested in, verbal, then if you have a change of heart by signing day you back out.

Most kids do it that way.

Why would Lupoi go to UW to be a D-Line coach? He's a Cal graduate and I've heard rumors he's primed for a D-coordinator job real soon.

the other thoughts on Stanford's prospects is that other then Luck and a couple stud OLineman, they aren't getting hit that hard by graduation. The next guy in line at QB is Brett Nottingham. He's had two years backing AL up and is supposed to be pretty solid.

    MickZagger:

Shaq has been jerking around 5 schools and than dismissed USC over twitter. That and the guy who runs Rivals has implied several times the way Shaq has handled the recruiting process has been that of an ego maniac, knowing all along he was going to Cal. I've not mentioned ego in response to Arik or Ellis, please get your facts correct before attacking! Thx!

    #1: Money.

#2: More responsibility. Maybe he'd be "Assistant Defensive Coordinator" or something.

I doubt he goes to UW, but the Huskies sure are trying.

If someone can have their cake and eat it, too... why wouldn't they?

If a player waits too long, then spots might not be available on a certain team. If a school will accept a verbal, hold a spot, and then allows a student to visit other schools... I don't blame the kids for taking advantage of that opportunity. Most of them haven't seen much of the country, I'd bet, and presumably it's fun to be a focus on those kinds of trips.

Tosh Lupoi named rivals top recruiter of the year for Cal....... Took a virtual unknown recruiting class to #8 in the nation in under three months... impressive with a 7-6 team as a calling card that gave up in their bowl game against Texas, and went 4-5 in Pac-12 play.... This guy is a miracle worker!
