I live like 10-20 minutes away from him. I'm assuming he's gonna pick either Stanford or USC. I'm not surprised for USC because SC does have a lot of experienced starters(they only lost one guy in the Draft), and on his Facebook he was in a picture with Matt Barkley. I think it's gonna be USC.

Well it's his desicsion, so good for him, although the Ducks could have used him along with Kyle Long(who goes to the same school I go to, ala Saddleback).

Still, I hope our recruiting crop is promising. I mean, I saw the videos of Buckner, P.Brown, B. Marshal. I just hope that our QB talent is up to par, because with Matt Barkley in the Duck's way for a Title/Rose game, Mariota or Bennett is gonna need to improve.

    Also Hello s2 forums.

    Charmed.

This forum is a bit slow I noticed. And I looked around and couldn't find a USC 2012 Football Recruting page. Am I looking I the wrong place?

Also I did some math concerning the two major Pac-12 schools(USC and Oregon) on Rivals about their recruits.

Average Star rating for Ducks: 3.33(repeating) They have 18. They have eight 4stars, nine stars and one 2star.
Average Star rating for USC: 5.85. They have 12. Nine 4Stars, one 5star, and two 3stars.

Oh, and the Blazer forum is by far the most active on the site, which is why there specific Oregone and OSU forums. I think everyone on here (except maybe Targus) posts regularly on the Blazer forum.

    "MJA
He obviously wouldn't play QB. Where does he project as a Duck? A Huff-like WR? CB/KR?"

    PapaG,

Take a look at the last part of that video I posted. He can play D!

When you have an OL in Jordan Simmons for a recruit, you know you're doing well in recruting. I played OL in HS and that man is a friggin monster.

I'll recheck the math later and give you all the full low down.

So there's no USC forum I assume of this site?

No. This is a Portland Trail Blazers site that has an offshoot for local teams. Check condums 247, Rivals or Scout maybe?

Ha, I was just joking. If you look back at my quote, I bolded their average star rating, which is nearly 6, so obviously just a typo.

Kidding about what? Am I missing something lol?

Ah okay, well that's fine if this site is all Oregon-based sports. I don't mind.

Well I can compare other teams, like teams that Oregon could face in the BCS Title game or Rose Bowl later. Any non-BCS schools that look good(ala TCU from 2010?)

Belated welcome Zalsa! Not too much going on around here other than Blazers and Oregon and Oregon State stuff right now. But I'm sure we would all love to get other parts of this forum hopping. You can cuss here so tell your friends! :)

The part Porkchopexpress was joking about was the 5.8 average stars put of USC. Not sure if you were referring to a different star rating, or the 5.0-6.1 rating Rivals gives.

Wait, there's 6 stars? I guess jokes on me. I don't pay too much attention to recruiting and had never heard of more than 5. My bad Zalsa, and welcome to the forum.

No you are right in Rivals uses the 1* - 5* System but they also have a 4.9-6.1 ranking of each star (i.e. a 4* player rated a 6.0 is more highly thought of than a 5.8 4* player) Its on rivals right under their star rating there is a hotlink that just says "About" and when you click on it it give you this.

    So, is 6.1 = 5*, 5.8-6.0 = 4*, 5.5-5.7 = 3*, 5.0-5.4 = 2* and 4.9 = 1*? That is how I read their breakdown, but I could be wrong.

Makes sense, I guess. Although it does seem odd to have a scale of 4.9-6.1, when they could have just gone to decimals. Oh well, nothing I can do about. Thanks for the info.

Shaq Thompson has in-homes tonight with both UCLA and UW.

UW fans also seem to think Arik Armstead is a silent commit to them????

No worries about it PCE. We all make mistakes once in a while.
Using PCE's standard of Rivals to Stars:
    6.1 = 5*, 5.8-6.0 = 4*, 5.5-5.7 = 3*, 5.0-5.4 = 2* and 4.9 = 1*?

I'll check out other Pac-12 schools, see what competition Oregon has up against(3.33 stars, for Rivals it is 5.7).

USC. 3.916 stars and Rivals is 5.85(J. Simmons helps their case by MILES. That man is a beast, and I played O-line, take it from me. Their 2 3stars bog them down though).

Washington(because Tosh Lupoi could be revolutionary for them because of lolAlamo Bowl). N=20

    Using Stars.
    2 4Stars.
    12 3Stars.
    6 2Stars

Average: 2.8 Stars(the 2stars bog them down, but they are okay
    Mode: 3

    Using Rivals
    6.0 5.8 5.7(2) 5.6(7) 5.5(5) 5.4(2)
    Average: 5.025(Rivals)
    Mode: 5.6

Well, Lupoi pulling a Benedict Arnold for Washington has proved most beneficial for Washington.

    For Stanford N=17
    Using Stars.
    9 4stars.
    8 3stars.

    Average:3.53
Mode: 4(by a hair due to one recruit).

    Using Rivals.
    6.0 5.9 5.8(7) 5.6(6) 5.5(2)
    Average: 5.7
    Mode: 5.8

Although Luck is off to truck at Indy, Stanford looks to be okay, but the lack of an efficient QB may make them tumble a bit.

    For Utah N=23
    Using Stars
    5 4stars.
    14 3stars.
    3 2stars.
    1 No-star.

    Average:2.95
    Mode: 3

    Using Rivals.
    5.8(5) 5.7(2) 5.6(4) 5.5(7) 5.4(3) None
    Average: 5.108
    Mode: 5.5

Mia Valaoga(the star-less Rival-less) is dragging this team down quite a bit. Although given that none of us expected Utah to roflstomp Alabama back in '09(which I loved IMMENSLY due to my SEC hatred) this could be up for debate.

Any other teams you want me to do stats on guys? I'll do Big 10 opponents next(Rose Bowl contenders).
