After hearing him talk and come off so poorly and disengaged I think even his most ardent supporters are having second thoughts. As for where he'll actually end up and how he'll do in the pros is anybody's guess, but he kind of failed the "how to win friends and influence people" test.

To me it's a bit strange to be talking about drafting a PG and SG and having them BOTH start. Lillard I can see starting asuming we don't bring back any of last years PG's except Nolan, but Lamb would have to beat out Wes AND Ewill which IMO he is not good enough to do, "at least" his first year and maybe longer than that.
I haven't been following this much but do I have this right: If the philosophy is BPA, Blazers do not pick Lillard with the 6th pick. If they do draft Lillard at #6, then they are really drafting based on position need?
I agree. I don't think there is one rookie out there other than Davis and as you say a PG that would start next year at least at the beginning of the season. But that is OK as long as they get adequate minutes. But guys like MKG, Beal, Drummond, Barnes , Lillard, Marshall, could all contribute early on.

Depending on the model used to predict the actual best players available, Lillard is as high as #6 on the list anyway... so one could say that Lillard at #6 isn't a reach for a position, but BPA. That said, there's plenty of people who disagree with that assessment, and will grumble about Lillard at 6. I've swung around to kind of being on the fence; I bet he'll be a good player, and a starter in the league, but he'd have to overachieve a bit to be the PGOTF that we always need.
Unless you are all-knowing, this is not necessarily true. If Davis, Robinson, Beal, Barnes and MKG are gone by 6, and Drummond shows not motor or desire in workouts, then I think you could easily make the case that Lillard would be BPA. Who would you put clearly above him?
Lillard has been flying up the draft boards, so if Olshey and company like him, the 6th pick isn't really a reach for him. Olshey said they have it down to maybe 3-4 guys at each draft slot, so if, for example, Lillard, Barnes, PJ 3 are all in the same tier, and best available according to the Blazers, then Lillard would be the right pick because he trumps the other two because he plays a position of need
There are some guys who make careers off numbers slightly better than that. If that's an off-night, that's not a terrible off-night (the 25% from 3 is).
Thanks for the responses. That helps clear it up for me. I haven't been following all this and the little I have I didn't see Lillard in a top 6 list (I have seen him picked in a mock draft at 6 but haven't seen him in a top 6 list which led to my confusion) But what I read is there is an argument he is the BPA at #6 or that there is little separation between the BPA at that pick. Makes sense.
