Does anyone else get the feeling they're really pushing Lillard in what is actually a smokescreen to get teams off the scent of other players they are more interested in? I suppose if other guys they bring in for individual workouts gets dinner with the owner, radio interviews, and all the attention on their website i will guess it is just par for the course for the big names.

If Charlotte is willing to trade away Thomas Robinson, given his production and measurements, at #2, then I question Michael Jordan's sanity. Also, package #6, #11, and next year's #1, plus Eliot Williams, for the #2. Robinson needed to kill it at the Combine and measure well, and he did both. He's Karl Malone.
We can't trade them next years 1 because they already own it. If they want more then 6+11 for 2 then screw it and lets pick the tier 2 guy who falls.
I've been a big proponent of Thomas Robinson all year and defended him quite a bit. That said, I don't think hes going to be THAT good. You'd like a franchise player with a #2 pick, but obviously that's not the case typically. I see Robinson being a starter but I see his upside as a fringe all-star. Love the way he plays the game, but I don't think he's ever going to be a #1 scoring option on a team. Hes not a defensive presence. Its not uncommon to see him get roofed under the rim and that's only going to be more of a problem in the NBA. I see him being kind of like David Lee. Smallish lunch pail big man with great motor. Uses athleticism to out-quick bigger players. I can only assume T-Rob will improve his mid-range game like Lee did and become a threat to shoot it. Can post smaller players and kind-of-sort-of face up bigger guys but mostly not a go-to scoring option. Limited on defense. TRob is more explosive and stronger, probably won't be as much of a pushover on defense. Don't think he'l lever be the passer Lee is though and he's got a ways to go developing the jumpshot/finesse game Lee now has.
I don't think he is smallish at all if you look at everything and not just height. Weight is 244 with 5% fat. Wingspan is 7'3.25" For some reason, short neck perhaps, his height is not great, but all other measures have him comparable to a 7 footer.
We put protection on our first so we can't send any pick in the next few years out because we can't lose a first round pick in consecutive years. So basically tell we lose our pick we can't send a pick out.
I look at TRob kinda like i look at Griffin (Who i think is the most overrated player to EVER play in the NBA). Solid big who has some explosiveness(of course Griffins explosiveness is a lot better then TRob) but who has a lot of fundamentals you want in a big. Also shows the desire and work ethic to constantly improve. TRob also has the tools to be at least adequate defensively. I think he will be better then David Lee/Paul Millsap. A big who will make the All-star game now and then but never be a perennial all-star.
I've long made the argument that he and Sullinger are in fact not undersized at PF in today's NBA. TRob definitely has great auxiliary measurements, which is crucial for other "short" PFs. That said, most contending teams have great size and you would prefer a 6'10 guy. Like I said, I like TRob a lot. I just see him having a limited ceiling. If hes your first or second best player, you're not a contender. Maybe he gets a LOT more skilled and shows better ability to finish under duress inside. I don't think hes advanced enough offensively to project him as a good go-to option. He won't change shots like Ibaka or Josh Smith.
Ok, I basically agree with you. I just thought the term "smallish" was not accurate and I don't really like the David lee comparison. But, like you, I agree he isn't going to be on an all defensive team anytime soon. However, anyone with his physical tools, great work ethic and a great motor, will tend to live up to their potential ceiling more frequently.
