He would be a downer for me as well. I would prefer someone younger. Olshey could have come in and changed PA's mind on surrounding LA with age appropriate guys too

Don't make me link to that Wages of Wins "most overrated" post again. Money quote:

Iggy is 28.5 years old, his scoring average has dropped everfor the past 3 seasons, not a fan of his contract, and I feel like he's one of those guys who takes a beating (like G-Dub), and those guys eventually start slowing down. I'd rather take a chance on someone at #6 than trade for Iggy.

Really, IMO, if Portland keeps the #6 pick.... the best thing would be for Drummond or someone else to move up into the Top-5.

That would leave one of T-Rob, MKG, Beal, and Barnes available to Portland. And if I'm Portland, I have to take whichever of those 4 are available and I'm happy.

Rockets are among the teams willing to acquire Dwight Howard as a one-year rental. They believe they could eventually persuade him to stay.

Actually it's been dropping since '07-08... BUT: last season was arguably one of his best because of the success the 76ers had, and that came with a slower pace (I think). He's more of a facilitator. And on the plus side, his 3-point shooting was a career high 39%. So you get him for his PG skills and defense, not his scoring. And I still think he's in a lot better shape than Wallace and has very rarely missed a game in his career.

I just think we're way overvaluing the #6 pick. If MKG fell to it, then keep the pick, because he's a young Iggy. If it's Barnes, Lillard or Drummond - none of them will ever be half the player Iggy is.

The "DraftExpress top 100" small forwards are, I guess, the college forwards that DraftExpress ranks as the top 100 college prospects at that position. Or was that some kind of trick question?

Only for my brain. Is that for this year only?

I mean DE themselves have him as the #6 overall best prospect

It would be Barnes, and then I wouldn't be happy. At that point I'd much rather have John Henson, an actually useful UNC player.

Good question. I assumed so, but I don't know.

Even worse - 4 straight years of decreasing PPG. If you're giving him credit for his career-best 3PG shooting, what about his career-worst 62% FT shooting?

I like Iguodola, I just would have been more interested in him in Portland a year or two ago. Now is not the time to add a player who is almost 29 (and older than your best player) in exchange for a pick that could end up being a decent young player.

If you want to add an vet to the roster, add Nash as your PG. But adding Iggy to this roster at the expense of adding young talent/potential.... Unless you can really re-make the rest of the roster quickly, it would be a waste. By the time Portland could potentially be turning it around (say 3 years), Iggy will be 32.

I guess what I'm saying is it really boils down to what other moves Portland can make. If they have something else up their sleeve to help re-shape this roster, by all means, go for it. But if they have nothing else up their sleeves, don't just trade the #6 for Iggy, and hope and risk that another opportunity comes along. Because, in the end, it's hope and risk. Just like hoping and risking that the #6 pick turns out. The difference is we know what Iggy is. The #6 could turn out to be better.

Oh, and Barnes will be a player in the league. I'd rather have Barnes at #6 than Iggy.

    WOW - Yikes! Really?

I don't even know what to say. I'll be nice, and I'll keep it simple: You're underestimating Barnes. Will he be a star? Probably not. But he'll be a solid starter in this league.

What can I say? I grew up helping out on my Grandpa's cattle ranch in Southern Oregon ... all I know is that real cowboys have shit on their boots.

The Trail Blazers continue to shop #6 and #11. No deal is imminent, but Portland is weighing their options and seeing what's out there.
