Scott Machado of Iona is making a name for himself. He's about to break the all-time NCAA assist record. Him and Kendall Marshall are great playmakers in this draft. Marshall's worked his craft against high level competition though. I wouldn't mind gambling on Machado with an early 2nd round pick. Dude drops dimes.

Because the 8th seed in the west will not be picking 15th. It is highly likely that a couple of east play-off teams will be picking in front of them.

You are correct, however, in saying the 14th pick kinda sucks. If we crash and burn, I would hope we at least move up to around 10th.

Marshall's passing and floor management is excellent. But his defense leaves a LOT to be desired, and he doesn't even look to score. I'd love to see what he could do if given freedom to run, but I don't like him better than Rivers or Lamb yet.

There's a reason Rivers and Lamb are going to go ahead of Marshall. They have complete games. Marshall is great at what he does do though. The guys court vision and ability to set guys up is unreal.

Another guy I wish we could get is Thomas Robinson of Kansas. Probably my favorite player in this draft. Dude is a horse, never takes a play off.

I like the thought of Quincy Miller or Damian Lillard.

You seem to forget who's evaluating talent these days.

Kendall Marshall looks like a solid pick that should be around when we pick.'

    Re: 2012 NBA Draft Prospects

I checked some early mocks and they have us picking 15-17. All but one has Marshall available. And that one has us passing him over. They have us taking:

Terrence Ross, a 6'6 SF with a good shot but a project player.

Doron Lamb, undersized (6'4) SG with poor athleticism. Shoots very well, but otherwise a liability in other aspects of the game. Most mocks have him as a second round pick.

Quincy Miller, 6'9 SF who has a history of knee surgery and an ability to play an entire game and score anywhere from 0-29 points. Some mocks have him in the second round. He is uber athletic. A lot like Travis Outlaw?

Meyers Leonard, a 7' white center. He averaged 2 points and 1 rebound last season. Very foul prone. They say he has good agility. Most mocks have him gone before our pick in a center poor draft.

Damion Lillard, PG. He's a score first PG who had a medical redshirt one year. Has very few turnovers and has an NBA body.

    Re: 2012 NBA Draft Prospects

Ross is a hometown guy. Went to Jeff. Kinda was overshadowed by Terrence Jones, but now Ross is the better pro prospect. Ross can shoot, but is really kinda streaky and takes shots that make you scratch your head. I don't think he has that high of a ceiling.

Doron Lamb is good, but Jeremy is way better.

Haven't really watched much Quincy Miller.

Meyers Leonard could be a good player. He's definitely not a stiff, has good hands and post moves. But, I've seen him a few times pickup a couple fouls early and get frustrated and sit there on the bench throwing little temper tantrums like a baby. He needs to mature. Could go either way on him.

Damian Lillard is a baller. His game translates well to the NBA. Kind of a Lou Williams type guard. The kind of player Chad Buchanon would not take in the 2nd round even, but will end up a solid contributor for sure, possibly a high level starting point guard.

Of those above, would you think Lillard the best pick?

    Lillard or Leonard.

I'd probably go with Leonard if I had to choose between the 2. I think you always choose size and he's a legit 7-footer. He just needs to get it right between the ears. He's got a great skillset.

I think Lillard will be a good player though.

Thomas Robinson is such a beast. Some team is going to be lucky to have him.

He should be scared if the Blazers draft him, because that means he will suck like every pg they draft.

What PG have we drafted that was expected to be a top tier PG? Everytime we pick a PG its gambling in the 20's.

Bassy and Bayless were both thought of as relatively high level prospects.

    Re: 2012 NBA Draft Prospects

Bayless was a SG that they tried to mold into a PG, but failed. Telfair was a ridiculous mistake, first PG ever drafted out of high school and he was a sub- 6 footer with no jumper. I rememeber reading that many GM's thought it was comical that Nash drafted him, even despite all the hype coming out of high school.
