He's a combo guard. With our track record that's the last thing we need.

I think the way the lineup looks, temporarily, with Batum and Aldridge, having a combo guard is just fine. I think we need someone who can run the pick and roll/pick and pop successfully, and shoot. The ability to create for themselves while not looking for their own shot too often would be great.

Comparable because they're both athletic freaks that are very raw. I think Wroten is better with the ball in his hands slashing.

You can find good PG's in the 20's of the draft all the time.

People had the same concerns with Westbrook when he was in college that they do with Wroten.

Cool, haven't seen much of him. Figured it was body type/athleticism that brought the comparison, but didn't know about their games, thanks.

That's my point. He was lightning quick in college for his size in that junior league he was in..

Agreed. Looking at current starters in the leagfue, you have Rondo at 21. Lowry at 24. Brooks at 26. Holliday, lawson, teague, Maynor, Collison went 17,18,19,20,21. And then Jameer Nelson late 1st, Isiah Thomas now starting for Sacramento. Lin. Calderon. Chalmers. Parker. Monta. Devin Harris. Jack.

I think more than anything, it shows that you just have to commit to that player.

I remember when Rondo was picked (#21) to be Telfair's future backup.

Exactly. PG more than any other position you can find solid players later in the draft. So many of the teams are salivating over size in beginning of the 1st round unless of course there's that can't miss guard.

    Re: 2012 NBA Draft Prospects

Westbrook is a good comparison for Wroten. Crazy hops, combo guard, sneaky good passer, etc. But Westbrook's quickness is out of this world, and he has the power and strength to match. I actually think Wroten might be a better PG than Westbrook in the pros because he has a better feel for the game at this stage as a freshman. And I like Wroten a lot more than I do Ross, mainly because Wroten has more skills already.

nbadraft.net did a new mock yesterday. Finally put Austin Rivers in the 2012 mock, and has Wroten slipping to 27. If we can get Rivers/Lamb and Wroten, it will be hard to criticize. This draft is sorta hard to mess up because there's so much talent.

My Zags just signed a 7 footer from Poland named Przemysław Karnowski. He's got soft touch and great passing abilities for his size and he's just getting better. Draftexpress already has him listed in their 2013 mock draft.

I'm excited and felt like posting that here for some reason.

    This!
With Nate as our Coach he will never commit to letting a rookie play and learn the game over 2 years and make mistakes. He will yank the guy and kill his confidence every time he makes a mistake. Nate is not a coach who can develop a PG who isn't ready for the NBA off the bat.

    Re: 2012 NBA Draft Prospects

What sucks is this is the kind of draft that a bunch of teams are going to "miss" on a bunch of players. And I have a bad feeling that there will be some PG's in this draft that we pass on that will be good. Especially considering our track record for drafting PG's its going to be even more frustrating to see that happen in this draft. The draft is always a crapshoot but this year will be that much more interesting. On flipside if the draft is as deep as some think there are going to be a few players that drop far in this draft that might be second round steals. Its amazing how much a great PG draft could change this team.

I'm kinda intrigued with Jared Cunningham. His mix of scoring and defense, kinda reminds me of a Avery Bradley type.

I really hope we don't pick a wing unless it's an obvious talent pick. Need a big and a point a lot more.

We passed on Faried because he's a 6'7" PF/C, nevermind the fact that he has a near 40" vertical leap combined with a 9'0" reach (2" more than J. Noah's)...

    Forget Jeremy Lamb.

We're about to get into Davis territory.
