Marshall? PJIII? Zeller? Although if Sullinger slipped this far, I think he would be the best fit (assuming you could find a PG in FA). Beal seems to be climbing on a lot of boards to a solid 2-3. I don't really get that. He is a bit undersized, isn't terribly athletic, and has a good looking, but less than completely accurate shot. I guess he is getting credit for playing with lousy teammates who didn't make him look good, but I kind of hope he isn't on the board when we pick. I've seen Drummond slip behind Barnes on a couple mocks. How great would that be?
Beal has a nice looking release but I didn't see anything to suggest he can slash to the rim. If we want a jumpshooter we can get Terrance Ross at 11.
Honestly, I would prefer that. Although I still think Wes is a valuable member of this team and there are other guys who would be BPA at 11.
Pretty much. Blazers need playmakers a hell of a lot more than they need shooting. A really good PG distributor makes the shooters on this team better. Besides....he's little. No ty.
I wouldn't trade up for Beal at all. Wasteful. I would also avoid Marshall and Sullinger. Definitely take Lillard over Marshall.
I'm still hoping for someone interesting to fall to us at 6 or 7, and then take Lillard or Marshall at 11. I like both PGs for different reasons. Lillard is so efficient at scoring, and might have better skills than some think at passing. Marshall has a developing outside shot and that may be all he needs to go with his superior vision.
He was #2 on his list. Mark me down as another who would prefer not to trade up for Beal. I don't see a standout quality in him other than his rebounding which is unusual for a 2 guard. Florida was a pretty poor rebounding team and the other 2 guards, Walker and Boyton were non factors on the glass. You add that along with his lack of size and rather average athleticism and I don't think his rpg #'s translate totally to the next level. He'll be a good rebounder for his position, just not elite like he was in college imo.
Chad Ford's new mock has PDX getting Drummond at 6 and Lamb at 11. Says Portland's scouts have been high on Lamb all year.
Watched some video of our prospects. Hmmm. Sullinger doesn't look like he could get a shot off against an NBA center. Drummond has some touch (more than Oden did) and is quick, but his short jump shot is one of the lowest I have seen. Kind of the anti-LMA shot. I can see why they are looking at Zeller, etc.
