Any recruits USC loses has an effect. A positive effect.

When I look at quality of recruits I look closely at other schools making offers. If they mostly WSU, Nevada... I wonder how good the player really is. About half this years recruits are like that. The kicker even worse. I wonder how good this class really is so far.

well we never know until we know, and that won't be for a while. Any try at insights into quality of recruits is only so accurate, Marcus Mariota's one other offer from Memphis would be a decent example as to the limitations of this approach. Rivals ranks the kicker (Wogan) as the 2nd best in the country... it's pretty rare for one to generate more then 2*. I'd also note that a year back when Oregon's rivals head guy (AJ) asked Aliotti how on target they were on their assessment of committable offers, he replied that they weren't batting 500. I'd imagine thats true of most schools and site's accuracy on committable offers. Coaches are banned from talking about any specific recruit, so most all of the info of who has offered comes from 17 year olds

247 predicts we get Joe Walker 2 star and Issah 3-star as our LB's. Really kind of disappointing because of our other targets.

It is also important to note when they accepted our Offer, because after a recruit commits they generally get less offers and that could effect your outlook on them.

We still haven't offered Jaynard Bostick squat. Seriously, he's a big time DT and we're just dicking around not offering him.

At least we may get this Zach Cunningham out of Alabama though. Love them Southern players

How many times are you going to bitch about this guy? First of all, they don't need to offer him for them to fly him out on an OV, but he'll have to convince them of his sincere interest to garner one. Second, if they were to offer Jaynard and he then signed on in February but lacked the grades/test scores to be admitted and never played a down for them, how happy would you be? I don't know how true it is, but the oft relayed rumor I've read is academic issues, but that Oregon has remained in regular contact with him. The other rumor I read is that he just got a qualifying ACT score and Oregon is fully in the mix of his recruitment. CK and the rest of the coaches aren't sleeping in only to gather to pound a few beers before 18 holes, they're flying around the country actively recruiting guys. There is a flurry of activity going on right now... it's about to get really busy. Enjoy the ride

...btw, not counting projected Drop DEs, Oregon has 9 DLineman of note for next year. It would be nice to pull one or two more and Redshirt them for the following year when Keliikipi, Heimuli & Hart graduate, but the cupboard is hardly bare.

btw2, TE/Drop End prospect Danny Mattingly will be in Eugene on a OV in two weekends. He recently dropped his verbal to Notre Dame

Hearing that the Ducks have as many as 8 silent commits, at least a few of who have been mentioned already in this thread, and whined about...

Jordan presence on the field commands and double allowing others to tackle more! Nice logic!

Tell that to AA, Buckner, DAT, Marshall, Addison, Colt and Balducci! OOO would that be our most explosive offensive player our starting DLine for two games and our best TE who all have played meaingful minutes as true freshman? Perhaps as always we'll just agree to disagree!

In other news, Reuben Foster decommits from Auburn. He has Georgia, Bama, and Washington in his schools to visit.

    Washington?

    Really?

And this is from the kid who had a tattoo of the Auburn logo on him.

you were trumpeting him as leading the team in tackles but the facts are he isn't in the top 5. Getting mad at me doesn't change the facts. Another fact (according to coach Allioti) is that it's the inside D-Lineman in their 3-4 who draw the double teams freeing up the LBs to make tackles... teams generally don't double the Drop End because they often drop off the line into coverage. But then again, what does coach Aliotti know about his own Defense compared to you?

which one of those guys won a starting role as a Freshman? The answer is of course that they were all backups except arguably DAT. Being pressed into a starting role because of injury doesn't make one the starter, it makes them a backup filling in with a spot start. The starting roles that the departing seniors left are almost without exception filled by guys already in the program. The backup role is what incoming Freshman are competing for, but thats not what you were talking about. Your concern about who's going to provide the speed rush from the Drop End spot next season probably will be addressed by French & Carriger who were both top sprinters in HS despite being 6'5 230. Addressing the future, there are several prospects they're pursuing... I'm hearing Aliotti may have secured a Jan. OV from USC commit Torrodney Prevot. Like Vanderdoes, I'm sure that TP being 6'3 is too short to play on the DLine in your view, but I'm still excited

Bostwick did get a conditional offer and is interested in setting up a visit. Rumor might have a commit per Biggins. Not sure who, maybe that 2 star Joe Walker if he visits.

I'm all for diamond in the rough recruits, but I think we have a few already and another with Joe Miller is not quite my ideal.

I hear ya, but some of my favorite Ducks ever are those Diamonds in the rough. So I still get excited. Byrd, Chung, and Thurmond had a combined 7 Stars out of 15 possible. I tried to look up Ward so I could get the full D-Boys total, but am having trouble locating it.
