You're the one saying these guys could still be ducks to balance out what you know is not a strong recruiting class! I say you need to build relationshionships with the top recruits and work with them for years just like Bama, USC and ND does, so when it's time for these kids to make a choice Oregon isn't just some gimicky team out west with cool uniforms. Oregon has won no national championships and yet their approach to top recruits is they need to show interest in us first? WTF!!! I guarantee you Bama, USC and ND with all their championships don't show this kind of arrogance towards the top 100. These are kids with big egos and they want to feel instant star status. Right or wrong that's the reality today! That's why the big programs pay big dollars "TOSH", "MONTE" for big time recruiters, because the top 20 players are a full time job to secure them to your institution. BTW- Rivals and Bleachers both have put out articles on how the Ducks have underachieved this year in recruiting.... Infact we all quoted and talked about the Bleachers and Rivals articles here stating that Oregon needed Vanderdoes, Hutchings and Redfield to consider this a winning recruiting year. These articles aren't hard to find! However your selective recruiting theory might be the one no site in the US will have much info on. I'd like to see that one! Course you and Stomp know more about recruiting than the sites you pay money to read, go figure! Let the Spin begin!
Actually he came in to be determined where he would play. I even read quotes from him saying he wanted to bulk up and play DT. He played this season on the DLine. Bair is projected inside too STOMP
Need an article Wheels? Read today's BR titled " Why Chip Kelly must step up his 2013 recruiting game!" Fresh of the presses for you and your Kool Aid buddy!
you asked for names of 5*'s that UO is after. I gave you names... yet I'm the one spinning things got it This is true, and exactly what Oregon staff does, and is probably why they are so selective in who they offer. And when they dont offer someone you of all people want, you bitch and moan. Excuse me if I take the recruiting tactics of a 3 time Pac 12 Champ. And a coach who has a team (full of kids he has recruited HIS way (note, not Ghost Pepper's way, not Monte Kiffin's Way, not Tosh's way) who when you boil down to it, is 2 missed FG's away from being in 3 straight BCS Championship games Must be nice to have all this inside info on all the top schools and their recruiting playbook Spending so much time massaging these egos could very well explain why Said coaches are sooooo bad at their actual coaching up of players. Thanks for helping me realize that, it never clicked that way before. PS again Monte Kiffin was basically forced to resign. Yep thats EXACTLY what we should model things after Still cant find said articles sorry. Also at sourcing anything from BleacherReport. That would be like me finding the equivelant of my sources from the Youtube comments section. I dont pay for any recruiting services. You just got SPUN!!! ????
Anyone siting bleacher report is either A. Ignorant that it is worthless as they have zero scouts or B. laughably lost. It would be like someone debating foreign policy and siting an article from People magazine You've been repeatedly informed how worthless it is... STOMP
Christian French is playing DL as well as a RS FR after being recruited as a TE, supposedly, but he was arguably better on defense even in HS. So ... SEVEN
French wasn't last year, he was two years ago same class as Lyerla. I also don't count LB's as DL so 5.
he's got 3 years of eligibility left and will be a 23 year old Soph next season. There has been no talk of him playing anything but DT and that includes direct quotes from Stetzon Etuale didn't get his test score up high enough to be admitted... thats not an Oregon wiff. STOMP
French was injured for most of his first year and barely practiced at any position. He's now playing the Drop End spot... do you consider Dion Jordan a DL? STOMP
I'm mixed on jordan, most of the time not, since he doesn't anchor the line often enough and seems to often be more in coverage and rush blitzing like a LB. While the style of DE Armstead/Buckner ect play is on the line. That is not to say he is never on the line, which is why his position isn't simply a LB.
Hart, AA & Buckner play the strong side DE in their switching 3-4 / 4-3 Defense... injuries have necessitated them playing some Interior DLine this season too. The other DE spot which Jordan, Washington and French play is the Drop End position and yes they do the switching back and forth between LB and the DLine play. I asked because I was curious whether you going to call Jordan a DLineman while maintaining French was a LB... but you didn't... so nevermind STOMP
Well we have one 4 star LB and One project JC LB. With one more, maybe I think likely 2 more LB to come. We have one 4 star OL in Voller, and two project OL in Pisarcic and Brenner. With Maybe one more to come. If anyone it is Hinnant, I think Oser is all stanford. Neither Class is exactly blowing us away. RB will probably be the best overall class though once we get our 3rd RB, who seems to be Folston at this point.
I'd be wary. He could scare away Wilson if we got Folston. We have DAT on special packaages, Marshall to shoulder the load, and they can switch off with Wilson and Tyner. I think we're good at RB
Once again Stomp and Wheels, these sport rags sites like Bleachers aren't what people who know follow but they are what the recruits read and follow! So having Bleachers putting out articles on Kelly to the pros, NCAA and violations about the Ducks, and another recruit we lost articles every week to another school doesn't help Oregon out. You can downplay any site you want to fit your current debate but the fact still remains Bleacher, Rivals, Scout and so forth are in the main stream of media with high school football players all over the country. BTW- Do not be shocked if we lose two more commits because of this NCAA bs! I'm thinking Wilson who's being courted by Ohio State, or the Twins perhaps the kicker.... A Chipless team looking at probation is a tough sell! Course Chip knows this and that's why he's been flirting with the pros since this Slick Willie shit leaked last year......
do you think anyone here is buying your nonsense? Recruits have their phones ringing off the hook from the source (coaches). They might get on your favorite BS gossip site if they want a laugh in the years I've been a rivals subscriber, I've seen many parents and coaches of Oregon recruits take part in our forum discussions. The mods keep things civil/classy for the most part which I'd guess makes them feel comfortable in sharing details about their son's/player's recruitment. Many times they've absolutely refuted the storylines that have been passed along on rivals and other media and months down the line events prove them to be truthful. I love it when you claim to know whats what on the rivals site. It's hilarious if I see a pile of dog crap ahead of me, I do my best to step elsewhere. I downplay Bleachers because clearly it is crap. They specialize in quick fluff pieces of gossip (sports and the rest) based on whatever they think might generate the most web hits from the gullible... which is why all the scantily clad girl links show up within each of their "stories". They have none nada zero scouts who watch tape, attend HS games, or go to the camps and see the kids of note going head to head. Keep stepping in dog crap and people might start to get ideas Scout was started and is owned/operated by Fuskies... maybe you've heard that Oregon and Washington are longtime hated rivals? Pretty much without fail every year they rate the Husky recruit classes higher then the other sites do and vice versa rate the Oregon classes lower then others. They regularly downgrade rated prospects after they declare for the Ducks. Rivals is owned and operated by Alabama alum so they don't really have a dog in that fight. My general impression is that the higher ups are mostly concerned with the SEC. They do have a Western group of writers that I generally like/respect... even when they tell me bad news. Did you know the head of the NCAA is a Fusky? DT is usually the first to break news because they're very willing to go out on a limb with their sources/info... which is reflected in their poor completion %. I prefer the droll, double checked, best info we've got style of rivals. But by time passing whats been proven most to me is that no site is an ultimate inside source or even close... recruiting is very fluid. For instance... I grew 8" when I was 17... rapid physical development is only one of the many dynamic factors in play that keeps us mere fans from knowing whats really what. In the end, stars don't make a class a great one, success does, and that won't be experienced for years. Non-bandwagon fans know some of the most successful classes in Oregon history weren't top 20 rated. Of course Chip has been pulling those sorts of top 20 classes of late. We shall see where this one is guessed at in February, but we won't know how well they really did for years STOMP
I really doubt they scouted him at any point. At rivals anyway, a 2* is almost always someone they haven't followed... and he's a 2* there too. Via rivals, his HS coach called him a late bloomer saying he really took off his Senior season as he switched positions from TE to OL. He relayed that Jake grew an inch and put on 25 pounds too. Someone who isn't dominating their Soph-Jr years isn't going to be invited to the camps or really be on the radar of the sites but here's his Sr. highlights. Judge for yourself if Oregon coaches were reaching this compilation went on youtube just over a month ago and is probably the first time the sites have seen him. He won't be a 2* on signing day STOMP
