why be bitter/worked up over what some 17 year old kid dicides to do? Both of these teens talked of some early interest in the Ducks but neither even visited. It's far from a settled fact that either will do jack in college and there are plenty of other prospects who just might turn out to be better. in part because of their proven success, I'm going to continue to trust that the coaches/recruiters know what they're doing and enjoy the following the process. It's a month+ to go in this wild ride with a few more twists & flips ahead STOMP
Sure about that one? On a side note, I was in Seattle and drove back to PDX today, and listened to Dawgman radio. Grinolds and Fetters are convinced that UDub has a shot at Vanderdoes. I almost called in to laugh at them.
Wheels, Lamo has said for the last two years that when he needs to get a recruit he sends in his dad! I'll take the coaches word on who is the closer k?
So..... "when it comes to recruits I want, I go with what recruiting services and articles say and not what coaches say" and "When it comes to a point I want to prove I'll go with what coaches say, and not what recruiting services and articles say" got it.
Monte Kiffin has been known to be parent pleaser and one that recruits feel very comfortable with. He's an excellent recruiter by all who know football and definitely a closer! That and Monte has an NFL background and many good connections for recruits looking to the next level. The problem with your logic here Wheels is our coaches and recruiters have bombed out this year with NO explanations on recruiting leading many to most to scratch their heads and say what the hell is going on? Not just me, every single recruiting site is saying what is Oregon doing? Fans are saying it, alumni doesn't get it, most think with our success that we should be doing far better and I happen to agree! Oregon is no longer playing for an invitation to the Beef O Brady Bowl or the Cream Cheese Bowl. We are a BCS team and we need top recruits to keep that going! Kansas State's defensive coordinator isn't up pacing every night thinking about Eric Dungy, he's thinking, how the hell are we going to bring down DAT if he gets a step on us in open space and how he'll make my defense look like a JV in doing so. He's thinking how are we going to stop Colt from shredding our secondary at will on slant passes and what are we going to do to contain Barner and Mariota! Our 5 stars make our 3 and 4's very relevant every game because the defenses are focusing so hard on stopping our 5 stars, that players like Huff and Addison and Marshall can have huge moments. On a side note: Chip Kelly would be an idiot to walk away from what we'll have here next year! Mariota, DAT, Colt, Tyner, Huff, Marshall, Carrington, Wilson and the Robinson Twins.... That's a spread offense's mother load!!! OOOO and we've got the #2 best kicker in the country coming in to make sure Stanford and USC wont happen again! Nothing in the NFL is going to be that fun to coach and it'll be hard to think that we wont be the favorite sitting at #2 to be a contender for the National Championship next year yet again!
What I find interesting too is that Vanderdoes and AA are buddies and he chose not to play at Oregon because he didn't want to play NG. Strange because that's exactly what the Irish have him slotted to play with their defensive scheme! Does it hurt that we passed on Redfield too who had Oregon as a top two on his list and now both of these guys are favoring ND?
Looks like Duarte is out unless he visited, don't think he has. We are in final 4, but with no visit before his announcement date on Jan 4th, seems extremely unlikely.
that seems to be the case with James Quick and Derrick Green as well. Quick I can understand as Oregon is bursting at the gills with WRs but Green is a little surprising as they definitely want a 3rd back in this class According to him, Oregon stopped calling. Now why might that be? STOMP
no, it's you. Simple concepts have been explained that everyone else here grasped... oh well. As a rivals subscriber, it's sad that you continue to claim them among the various voices in your head that agree with the freakout nonsense that you push. in HS, how many "buddies" did you have that were so close and influencial that they would factor in where you'd (hypothetically) go to college. How many of those "buddies" lived an hour drive apart like EV & AA did growing up? You sure have built up an interesting fantasy involving him, but it's past time to let the butthurt go besides as you've shared with us before on umpteen occations, anyone less then 6'5 is too short to play D1 DLine and Eddie is only 6'3. Is it his pretty blue eyes that have you looking past your own brilliant insights? STOMP
Folston is more interested maybe? Or intimidated due to that we have Byron Marshall in front of the depth chart, and Wilson would be the 3rd String back. And Green would want to go where he can start, ala either Ole Miss(who is on the rise but I doubt they would make much noise) or Michigan(Pla-Action with Shane Morris and that beefy O-line for years equal wins)
Baseball might be a factor... Oregon hasn't demonstrated a willingness to let football players miss Spring drills and such for baseball. I'm not sure that is THE reason that Vanderdoes hasn't considered the Ducks in a while (it might be a personality conflict or something like that) but it might be a factor. Ed O.
Didn't the baseball program nearly got to the World Series or something? Why isn't that a draw for Eddie?
I think what Ed-O is saying is Eddie wouldnt be allowed to play baseball because it conflicts with Football activities. And that could be a drawback for Eddie because he wants to play Baseball. Chip lets kids play Basketball, Track ( I believe running only) because none of it conflicts with Football. Baseball is right in the middle of Spring Football.
That is the point I was trying to make, yes. I think that it was one of the reasons that Shaq Thompson didn't come to Oregon, also, although it's tough to know for sure. Ed O.
After USC's performance this week in El Paso, from skipping the bowl dinner to not showing up for the game, I'd expect Kiffin to have a lot of trouble keeping all of his verbals locked up through signing day. Haden must be considering firing Lane at this point, if only to try and save his own reputation.
Seems Duarte has visited though unofficially and quite enough even Biggins recently said he thought he hadn't visited. Mitchell will have our hat on the table, but I know he hasn't visited so pretty much Ohio lock, and we get honorable mention because the TV people asked him to have 3 hats. Ross to announce soon, haven't heard much from there. Folston to pick soon, probably ND. edit: Duarte visit was in 2011 for USC game, so still very unlikely he picks us over UCLA.
no one from this year's rotation is graduating. WR is definitely a well stocked position rivals national reporters from the All American practices have been singling out the Oregon High Schoolers for praise. At the Army game, TTyner is the only RB recognized on both of the first two days of practice as a top performer... 2nd day comments claim he's separating himself from the other backs. Evan Voeller was praised for his work slowing down a dominant Robert Nkemdiche and put on the Monday top performers at the Under Armour practices. STOMP
As expected Folston to ND. Kamara removed us from contention, not that we were a shot. Seems we've stopped pushing hard for green so basically out there. Not sure who we go after hardest next, Newby? Smith?
