Well thats good. But grabbing him will be tough. Unless they have genuine interest in us I don't see us making a grab.

While some schools seem to use offers like a lure to hopefully generate interest, Oregon doesn't offer any kid unless they think the interest from them is genuine. I'm told that typically the process for them starts when their HS coach contacts the Oregon staff

btw, Frost and Greatwood will be on an in-home visiting Cal OLineman Kolton Miller later this week.

Miller has good size, but his other intangibles are...I dunno.

But hey, at least we have a shot at these DTs for more meat in the trenches.

I hope there is a one hell of a plan ready to go into effect if Coach Neal takes the UAB job, if not we may very well lose Springs and Olomu came back with the thought Neal was going to be in Eugene. Neal is a great recruiter and this may not go over very well if he excepts.

I can say that I was 1 of thousands of Ducks that were very nervous that we could see ESPN rolling out, Neal to UAB as new head coach in the next 48 hours. Springs and Olomu seemed a little on edge as well. One could also read into the tea leaves that there was far more worry to losing Neal than jumping on board with the Pellum hire. That might seem important for Helfrich to ponder down the road on his decision making. That said the Ducks probably gave Neal a nice pay bump and the recruiting director position as well since he does such a great job of bringing in talent as we all know. This also says to every recruit in the country, our assistant coaches turn down head coaching opportunities to stay Ducks, so this place must be very special!

On a side note, I know many here want McGraw as a Duck, I sense his infatuation with LA could be stronger than let on and I know this kid loves the limelight, so naming us his favorite may be classic misdirection for attention. Having said that I sense there is another kid sitting in the cheap seats waiting for everything to calm down with the coaching carousels who may be the most perfect fit for Oregon. We all know that UCLA has turned into Mora's Bully Bruins and USC has become UW South, so if I was John Smith I'd be motivated to talk to coach Neal a few more times before I put my pen to paper in early Feb.

its easy to say now obviously.. but re Neal and UAB. I dont think it was much more than leverage to get a pay raise. The dude is 57. Thats pretty late to start new. And lets say he gets 3-4 years to turn it around, and doesnt (UAB afterall) that puts him at 61 to try and figure out what else to do? Doesnt make much sense, but I'm not in the know.

Also QuackU interested on your info on Ifo being on edge. Not saying you are wrong, I just saw nothing from Ifo in the last 24 hours when this all surfaced.

As for Olomu, he stated one of the biggest reasons he came back to Oregon was Neal, now I think today is the last day you can declare for the NFL if I'm not mistaking, had Neal bolted for UAB at 9 am this morning, I think Olomu would have declared at 10. Just my take! Springs was quoted as saying "this better be a joke" upon news of Neal interviewing for the HC spot at UAB.

As for Neal, pay raise withstanding, I think most Ducks would have been more receptive to Neal than Pellum taking over the DC position. I come to this conclusion with the amount of people freaking out about Neal potentially leaving and the amount of complaining most showed for the Pellum hiring. Luckily if Pellum crashes Neal is on our runway still.

I'm not sure how much UAB would have offered him to coach there but I've got to think 600K and above a year for three with incentives would make sense. He'd have head coaching experience plus he's a great recruiter to put on his resume. Even if he won only 6- 7 games a year, other teams would certainly take notice and maybe even the NFL for a DC position. If Monty Kiffin can bounce around at 73, I think Neal would be okay at 61. Neal deciding to stay at Oregon shows how good the environment in Eugene has really become.

gotcha. Just wasnt sure if it was conjecture, or you read something about Ifo being on edge.

It would be my guess how close it is to declaration time, that Ifo was kept some in the loop by Neal. You dont become so loved by your kids if you are a dildo to them, which I doubt deal was.

I should start posting so he can ask me about my daughter 1000x.

Anyhow, no rumblings from any commits leaving, or so I "hear", and a few surprises still are in the mix.

Lets talk about commits okay? No need to go OT in here.

Also, we have 3 DTs in our midst: Trey L, Poona, and that other dude from back east.
