In addition, Oregon was beaten by Stanford and Arizona and they run a Blur offense. LSU beat Auburn. TAMU got whacked around by ranked opponents. If you wanna stop blur offenses, execute well on defense. Nick Saban is just butthurt because he got whipped two times in a row and Bielma is a shit coach. Anyways, onto recruiting: Sherrion Jones seems to be getting a lot of looks. Right now, our QB situation for next cycle is: Stidham, Waller, Hart, and Jones. I say we look good on that front.
Stanford runs a blur offense??? the other QB prospect they've been checking out is New Mexico's Zach Gentry. He's 6'6, operates out of a spread offense and seems to be able to make all the throws. This Gentry looks highly underrated, and he possess great size. However, we need to beat out OK. State and Tennessee for him, maybe after seeing how bad Tennesee does next season he may become interested. In your opinion STOMP, which QB would you like to get, Gentry included? the thing I value the most in a QB is composure/decision making, and that really isn't translated in highlight tapes. Especially the way Oregon has been stacking quality class after class, it's likely the next QB recruit will have to Redshirt & work their way up the depth chart over time so they'll need to be mature and patient... again that doesn't come through in the highlight tapes. The last few guys they've landed have attended Oregon's camps and overtly shown that they've wanted to join the program... I'll be looking for that. That said, of what does come through in the highlight tapes I value having Duck QBs be dual threats able to gash a D through the air or tucking it. Stidham looks very impressive in this regard. A rumor swirling on rivals is that he's planning on attending the Spring game. STOMP
it can be hit or miss. Its worked out with us before with late flips we've had. Just some recent examples... Josh Huff was TCU commit, DAT - USC. Torrodney Prevot USC, Bralon Addison was committed to both OK State, and Texas A&M before us. It can also burn us too in more recent memory, Budda Baker, and Dontre Wilson to Ohio St last year.
Texas QB Jarrett Stidham has scheduled an unofficial to Eugene with childhood friend/Athlete Ryan Newsome on April 12th. Newsome is a speed demon and plans on running track in college as well... he's also friends with Bralon Addison STOMP
I'm in the cheap seats viewing things from afar/enjoying the recruiting ride. If the coaches feel a 17 year old is worth pursuing, then thats that. Wheels noted several of the flips for and away from Oregon. While it's always nice when a highly thought of prospect fulfills their childhood dream of becoming a Duck, I certainly don't think a kid as damaged goods if they've changed their mind following committing elsewhere... especially in a case like Daniel where the coaching staff he committed to is no longer at the school. The very high rate that Oregon commits have been sticking with the program (career ending injuries aside) leads me to believe that all the talk about recruiting high character kids isn't just talk.
