Stanley Johnson reminds me of a prime Artest. Okafor should be the #1 pick. He's got some big boy moves. Lots of polish.
Brazil's George Lucas is this years Giannis - A 6'5" PG with a 7'1" wingspan: With Wes/Arron/CJ I think I'd shift my focus from RJ Hunter to a big. Meyers is clearly a PF and Kaman looking like a short-term stop gap -- packaging this pick for a center prospect would be my priority. Jokic was THE guy I wanted Neil to go after in the second round before Denver scooped him up at #41. Showing improvement and IMO easily worth our first-rounder. With Nurkic developing into a beast at center, I'd think they'd be open to it.
Brazil is putting out a lot of long kids lately like Bruno and Nogueria. What do you think of Hezonja?
The only guys I've kept tabs on the last few years were Saric and Jokic. Hezonja is a guy I knew would be well out of our reach when he came out though. With our 2017 pick going to Denver we could still trade this years pick if we make the pick for that team, right?
I like Warren Gillis as a Ron Harper type. http://www.goccusports.com/sports/m-baskbl/mtt/warren_gillis_779987.html Probably not on any draft board, since he's from a small school (coastal carolina) but I like this guy a lot, seen him play once last year and was very impressed, a smart, team-first player, good decision maker, very solid in almost every aspect of the game, just a very good all-around player. He's a senior now so he's eligible, don't think we (or anyone else) would take him, but he's a personal fetish of mine.
The guy to keep an eye on this year is Willy Hernangomez. Slated to go early second, should go a lot higher like Jokic, an upside pick with legit center size. Raw but has a little Marc Gasol in skillset and size: 6'11" | 255 lbs | 7'2" wingspan | 9'1" reach | 20 y/o Kristaps Porzingis apparently is pushing a legit 7'2" and can play above the rim. I wouldn't at all be surprised if he went over Okafor on draft day.
So some kid by the name of Xavier Rathan-Mayes scored 30 points in the last 4 mins and 38 seconds of the game but his team (Florida State) still lost!
Just watched okafor on youtube. Never seen him play at all, from the one video against Boston College he reminded me of Tim Duncan with good free throw shooting.
The guy we traded for T-Rob, who only had a few years of organized basketball under his belt at the time, has developed into th best center in the ACB: LINK He was a few years away but he showed an actual skillset - not an athlete that you have to teach to be an actual basketball player (T-Rob). This is a good example of why I rate Hernangomez highly, he's essentially a more athletic Todorovic.
Scoring guard from Toronto, best friends with Andrew Wiggins. Stuck between the 1&2 right now but is a magnificent shooter. Wonderful form.
He's raw but there are already rumblings that Kennedy Meeks is going to declare this summer. At 6'9" 270 lbs. he's going to have to become a PF on the next level. A widebody with a soft touch - Randolph-esque post-game. Should be there around our pick. Impressive advanced numbers (34 PER | PER36: 21 PPG | 15 RPG | 2 BPG):
I like him, very good hands, good intelligence but he lacks height and athleticism. Probably a Cal Landry type of a decent but undersized big. Should find a place in the NBA.
The skillset is there but he's going to struggle in the NBA. The player you look at is Z-Bo who was way overweight (270+) and very productive in limited minutes at MSU but was sneaky quick and has a wingspan in the 7'4" range. Meeks has neither of those attributes. He is a hardworker though - down to 270 from 320. With his ability to score in the post I think he could be a riser on draft day though - mid-20's?
Speaking of risers, Robert Upshaw will be the biggest riser on draft day IMO. Top-10 in PER for centers Legit C size: 7'0" | 7'4" wingspan Rim protector: 4.4 BPG in 25 min/per
Givony and Ford both agree that the 2016 draft is going to be the weakest in "at least a decade". Malik Pope now rated as a top-5 prospect in next years draft - would've gone late first this year.
Very impressive. Would like to see him against bigger competition to make real judgement but he looks very good in this video. He looks like he has real potential at least. Would like this player for the Blazers.
