I don't think exchanging picks for proven average players will do us any good. Either go for a game changer like Paul George or just select some decent talent with all those picks. I would also be all for swapping average players like Aminu and Davis for second rounders to cut some salary and maybe get someone whose ceiling is a little higher (neither of them will improve much from here).

What's Thad Young going to provide us with? He is better than our power forwards but still average. We might win 50 games with mildly better vets in place of Vonleh, Aminu etc. but still fall short in the playoffs. Pointless.

    In a heartbeat.

AL >>> Meyers (plus 1 less year on the contract)
Monta = Crabbe (Crabbe is a better shooter, but Monta has a shorter / better contract. If Monta has a good year, he's likely to opt out of the second year)
George > picks + Harkless (known commodity is better than unknown picks)

Each WABC drafted in the 1st round in the last has justified their draft position outside of Meyers Leonard.

Id trade 20 and 26 if w could land Young and Crowder while giving up Meyers. We could contend for WCF appearances with that group.

I like the idea of using the picks to improve our team and our call situation. Ex: Meyers+26 for Kyle O'Quinn, Crabbe/Turner+20 for Young and Miles, etc.

I like Crowder a lot. I would easily part with one of our picks to get him here. He's also the right age, has a great contract and I feel he can still get better. He is the sort of player that would IMO not look out of place playing 30 minutes a night for a contender.

I am not a fan of getting average players like Young. I feel that a move like this will not get us any closer to competing and parting with young talent will hurt us long term. If we can get top tier talent like George for multiple picks, or a proven good young players like Crowder for one pick, then yeah, it makes sense. Flipping potentially good players who might develop into something useful for us in 2/3 seasons for someone who has always been and will always be average makes no sense.

Young isn't average. He's a pretty good defender, who averaged 11ppg on 53% FGs and 38% 3pts. He'd be a perfect upgrade to Aminu.

He's average. He's not the sort of player who could play for a contender. If we accept we don't want to compete for championships and are fine with consistently getting 6th - 8th seed and getting knocked out in playoffs second round, it's be a great move to target this sort of players though.

Crowder and Young are quite similar statistically and in terms of their impact on the game. It's interesting that you classify one as "a good young player" and the other as "average". What appreciable difference between the two do you see?

I think Crowder is a better defenders, he's also 2 years younger and has a much more favorable contract. There's something about Young that I just don't like.

Young is not an upgrade over Aminu unless defense stops being a thing in basketball.
