That was classic. And that was a classic game. I normally hate L.A., but Dodgers are my team. My dad is from La Habra and I grew up rooting for them. I know that you're behind Houston and there is nothing wrong with that. Altuve is probably my favorite player to watch. He makes short guys like me look great. This will be a great series. I'm just really curious how L.A. adjusts in game 3 with a DH.

The term World Series had nothing to do with haughty American attitudes. I realize that is hard for people to believe but if anything it was manufactured sportswriter's brainstorm by a bunch of cigar chomping businessman. Around the turn of the century, when the idea of the World Series came about, baseball was played in cornfields and coal camps with dry cowturds for bases. That isn't something you can use to sell sportswear.
Albert Spalding, the owner of Spalding Sports Goods had a brain storm that they needed to sell the game to cosmopolitan dandies. Put baseball on the same playing field as cricket. Take barn storming tours of England and Egypt. The Sporting News would even astroturf news of fake exhibitions of baseball that never happened. The goal was to sell shiny new baseballs and gloves to new markets. That soon became the mindset of everybody who ran baseball. Though it failed miserably.... yet the name stuck.
Now over 100 years later, baseball is actually in places other the US. It rankles the international community that MLB has the nerve to give a spinoff of rounders and cricket an international moniker to a domestic league. "They should change it!" But it's as brand name now as recognizable as the Jerry West logo. But the idea behind it wasn't " Oh. We are Americans. We do it better than anyone." It was more like, "Frankie, I got a great name. The World Series, that'll sell a few tickets, hunh! I mean one say baseball really will be played around the world."
This is a Guilded Age Fantasy.....

I hope it goes 7 games.

I also hope that Brian McCann tries to hit against the shift. Because, you know, that would be funny.

I hate say it, but Dodgers are my team. My dad grew up there and since there is no Portland team, the fandom has been passed on.

I envy you. My dad never watched baseball. My dad was a basketball and a tennis junky and that's pretty much all we watched. But he did play catch with me in the back. I'll give him that. Probably kept asking himself why I wasn't working on my jumper.

My dad used to throw grounders to me in the backyard. He would fist pump the air every time he hit me with the ball.

My dad is retired now and plays tennis 2-3 times a week. I get even with him by saying, "Hey Jimmy Connors. Ilie Nastase called. He wants his headband back." Drives him bonkers. But we are cool otherwise.

Did anyone catch @Mediocre Man singing "God Bless America" during the 7th inning stretch? Stick to being negative on message boards bruh.

They just re-released the album. Don't know why I'd bother. Got it on original vinyl. You can't beat that.

I picked up the CD with the live bonus tracks yesterday and it reminded me of seedy Mexican pot and good times

I'm pretty sure that we are supposed to hate each other. It will make our future love story all the more compelling.
