It's weird how much love the Lakers are getting right now (Cowherd), basically saying they should be fighting for the 2nd place in the conference.

He says they've won '3 in a row'...but if you look at their win streak, they BARELY beat the Hawks (who are horrible) and barely beat Minnesota (train wreck) and they did beat the Kings.

Yeah, a W in a W, but let's slow down. They've won 3 total games against above .500 teams (Denver, Portland and Kings).

Their 4 other wins are against Dallas, Phoenix, Minnesota and Atlanta.

This is why SOS matters. They're middle of the road right now not a 2nd seeded team. Jeesh.

I think it's more, "None of the other teams in the West are particularly formidable, so there's no reason that Lebron can't lift a squad to the 2 spot."

Brook Lopez is such an incredible fit at Milwaukee. The transformation of that team has been very impressive. I think along with us, Toronto and Milwaukee have been the most impressive teams so far this season. If we don’t make it out of the West to the Finals and Warriors do as expected I’ll be hoping that either Raptors or Bucks make the Finals as it will be very, very easy to cheer for them for the championship. Two loveable teams.

Yeah we don’t get recognition. I think we are just next to Bucks and Raptors in the ‘tier below Warriors’ now. Nuggets are not quite there yet as visible over the last week. Rockets have fallen away somewhat and Celtics haven’t hit form yet but have the personnel to be competitive maybe.

Raptors might actually not even be a tier below the Warriors anymore. They could go toe to toe with them in the Finals if it comes to that. Bucks and us could too, maybe, but we need to sustain this form for a little longer. In Bucks case it has to be said they are a terrible, terrible match up for Warriors and have always been so that would make those potential Finals very interesting.

Imagine how interesting and competitive the NBA would be right now without the Warriors. It'd have a level of parity never seen before.

    Here's your recognition.

    http://www.nba.com/powerrankings/2018-19-week-5

Ranked No. 2 in this week's NBA Power Rankings, trailing only 12-1 TOR:

    Portland Trail Blazers
    Record: 10-3
    Pace: 101.0 (16) OffRtg: 113.6 (5) DefRtg: 104.4 (5) NetRtg:+9.2 (4)

After completing a 5-1 homestand with wins over the Bucks, Clippers and Celtics, the Blazers are 6-1 in games between the 15 teams that currently have winning records, with the only loss coming when they shot 6-for-35 from 3-point range against the Lakers. In the midst of dropping 40 on the Bucks' third-ranked defense, C.J. McCollum dropped rookie Donte DiVincenzo late in the third quarter. This is a jump-shooting team -- the Blazers rank 23rd in the percentage of their shots that have come from the paint and in the bottom three in restricted-area field goal percentage for the third straight season -- but it leads the league in point differential (plus-4.5 per game) from the free throw line, despite a drop in its own attempts over the last few games. In the last two seasons, Portland has gone from 28th (in 2016-17) to 19th (last season) to second (this season) in opponent free throw rate.

That is a shame - I only saw a couple of Nets games - but he looked real nice in them.
