Grayson Allen is a good kid I think. Yes, he's made mistakes but I think he's learned from those.

As far as his nba potential goes, he's pretty underwhelming physically for a 2 guard but might have enough IQ, playmaking and versatile shooting to make it as a bench shooter on an decent team.

Smaller Belinelli type player is what I see him as.

He tripped someone with a dangerous hip check in the past month. Dude hasn't changed. I'm sure you saw it?

    Nope.

And Donovan Mitchell was one of the first guys I recommended for us and thought he had Eric Gordon / Marcus Smart hybrid type upside.

Iirc, u thought he was overrated due to his size and just ok offensive efficiency but came around on him later on.

What about Jarred Vanderbilt? He should be somewhere around our pick if he declares. How good is he as a prospect?

He has been injured for most of the season but he was a hot prospect before then I think.

    Ah okay.

We need someone athletic who can get to the rim I guess.

He reminds me of an undeveloped Harkless.

If anyone passes on him, they will regret it.

My gut feeling is the pick will be dealt along with a player or two to acquire a player that fits the timetable now. With Collins, Swanigan and Baldwin we have enough players to develop and this years team has shown now would be a good time to get more experience on the team in the age range of 24-28.

I mean, if PHX got the first pick I think Ayton should be the guy. They have Booker/Jackson/Warren all on the wing already and they need an imposing big man.

This is how you end up with Sam Bowie.

When you’re picking first, pick the best player.

And Doncic is more along the lines of Ben Simmons than a traditional wing; A primary ball handler. Phoenix doesn’t have anybody outside of Payton.

And for the record, I’d rather have Bamba than Ayton.

How does Ayton compare to Sam Bowie in any way?

Ayton is the most talented player of need. You do draft for best talent at the top of the draft, if it's obvious. However, Doncic, Bagley, and Ayton are all on an even plain to me, so if I'm PHX, position of need is the tiebreaker.

    Out of the 3:
    Doncic is the biggest wildcard
    Ayton has the most upside
    Bagley is the safest pick

Portland went with need (Bowie) instead of just taking the best player (Jordan)

And in this scenario (aka mine) Doncic is the best player in the draft while Ayton isn’t even the best big.

The consensus is that Ayton is the best big. It's completely different if the consensus was Jordan was better than Bowie at the time of the draft.

You're opinion is your opinion, but it's not like anyone is obviously better than Ayton. Ayton's an absolute beast. How much have you watched him?

I’ve seen him enough to form an opinion I feel good about. I don’t comment on players I haven’t watched.

The reason we weren't successful with Bowie is that he was injured, period. Really not relevant to the point you're
trying to make. And your point, is easy to negate, anyway. The cavs took Anthony Bennett because they thought
he was the best player in the draft, not because of position. They were just wrong.
