I think it’s only to move down but still within the lottery. If for example they think that the best player in this draft for them is Bamba but don’t think he’ll be taken by anyone at 3 to 6 then why not move that pick for no. 7 and get an additional asset from Bulls (e.g. the no 22 pick from Pelicans). I doubt they will want to trade it for a player who is ready now when none of their roster are really in win now mode.

What's strange is that Sports Illustrated has him only going 31st while other mocks have him in the mid teens.

If I am the Kings I am taking as many crap deals to acquire picks as possible. Same for Bulls and Hawks really.

In Kings case they have so many expiring contracts that have to be attractive for teams. Take Mahinmi from Wizards and get no. 16 or go crazy and take MKG, Batum and Williams from Charlotte for no. 11. Send them ZBo, Temple, Koufos. Acquire enough picks to move up and take someone like Bamba, Carter or JJJ.

After no. 14 (where Bridges, Knox, Shai etc. might land) the rest of the draft is all over the place.

I'm totally open to swinging for the fences in the draft if we can get a future stud or 2.

It might put us back temporarily...or not.

This experiment has been fun while it lasted but i'm ok with moving on.

Khyri is a slightly less potential version of Mitchell at this point in the draft process. Lock down perimeter defender with a huge wingspan who shot 41% from 3. Strong finisher too as he shot 64% on 2 pointers. Not quite as athletic as Mitchell so not as good creating his own shot (although he still can) but is a better pure shooter than him.

The only reason I see for him not going in the lottery is that he's a junior so people think he has less potential. It's the same reason Mikal Bridges isn't a top-7 pick.

He'd be a great 3rd guard in the rotation and could eventually make a CJ trade a better option (similar to if we drafted Mitchell last year).

It just depends on if those teams really would trade a top-5 pick for CJ. At this point it seems like a longshot. You aren't going to get anything other than that though if they did want CJ. Something like the trade @PtldPlatypus threw out of CJ for Chandler Parsons and #4. Although we'd have to throw #24 into that trade because they traded away their 2019 1st round pick to Boston or make the trade at/after the draft.

Has some Wesley Matthews/Avery Bradley in his game. 40% 3pt shooter and a lockdown defender. 6'3 but has a 6'10 wingspan. Would be a great 3rd guard.

He has always bordered on cheap and dirty.
