In that case, our paths have probably crossed.

question for the fellas. I don't post much on here but do like reading what everyone has to say each and every day. I did have a question. On at least a couple of occasions, there has been talk of you meeting up to play ball. Why are you always looking for covered courts? Does the area not have any indoor courts? I am out here in So Cal and still get out and play ball every weekend though I am getting older. For me, indoor helps my knees so much. We have at least ten or so indoor courts to get some run on Saturdays and Sundays. Just strange to me that it seems everyone is looking for an outdoor covered court.

The 3 on 3 tourney is held on a street in Portland.
Some of it is also held in a parking garage.
But unfortunately it's not held on a indoor court.

I see. So assume everyone wants to practice at a location that is similar to where you'll actually play the tournament. Makes sense. Thanks for the heads up.

The covered court is so we don't have to worry about the weather that particular day. It would suck to plan a meetup weeks in advance and then have it be pouring down rain that day.

I hear you. Just didn't initially understand why you guys weren't playing indoors. I assumed with the rain factor that Portland would have a ton of indoor courts. Anyways, if playing outside is a better way to prep for an outdoor tournament, then now I understand. Thanks.

Almost every indoor place I know of you have to pay for access, or only on the rarest of occasions has the court open for people.

Here in So Cal, we do pay to play indoors. The place I play most often charges $2. One place I go charges a $1. The most I've paid is $5. A few bucks is worth it to me but I'm sure some people would disagree.

The gym is a good spot especially if you're already paying the membership fee.

Most gyms I know of around here charge $12-$20 for a guest pass for a day.

Thats interesting hoopsjock. Almost sounds like that would be the cost to an actual monthly membership gym (like 24 hour fitness or something). We've got a bunch of city gyms that have a court and they open on the weekends and charge from $1-$5 to play (they are usually open in 3-8 hours time blocks). I figured Portland would have a ton of these gyms due to rain. Maybe I am wrong.

I wish that was the case here.

I get a 2 year 24 hour fitness membership at Costco. It costs about $400 for two years. However bringing a guest there is $18.

I don't have that 2 year 24 hour membership but I saw it at Costco and do think it's a great deal. The guest cost would be too expensive to do regularly, at least for me.

I just got someone to cover for a few hours this Sunday afternoon (April 7th) so I can play now. If it's in the Beaverton area like the court @dviss1 suggested I can probably be there around 1:30. If it's somewhere else probably by 2. That should be enough time to play for a couple hours and then for anyone going to the Blazer game to be able to make it. Lets do this! Obviously due to weather it should probably be somewhere with a covered court.

I'm probably missing a bunch of people, but please feel free to come. The more people the better! It really makes a difference in forum discussions when you can put an actual person's face behind who you are talking to.

Of course we can do the Bones vs Kingspeed 1 on 1 game too!

Beaverton? Ugh. That's almost an hour drive with traffic. Kingspeed is gonna need to Uber me for free.
