By the definition of some here, that's not an impact.

And yet other teams seem to find ways to acquire good players without "blockbusters." The Blazers are desperate for help at the forward position and Hood isn't even close to being the best forward traded this year.

No one has said that. I will bet you every single person here complaining about Neil will stop the moment our team gets to the WCF while winning 60 games. We haven't won a single playoff game in 2 years.

And if the Blazers went to the Conference Finals, it would have been impactful. When is the last time the Blazers won more than 1 game in the 2nd round? Big difference.

So four impactful trades in seven years? Damn Neil, slow down.

Real contention is soooo tricky. It is intelligent moves, smart drafting, managing egos, managing the salary cap, and a shit ton of LUCK. Gotta have picks reach potential, can't get burned too badly on a trade, can't have a franchise player leave in free agency, and can't have injury problems with your key players. And all of this has to happen during a certain window that fits with age, the current makeup of the conference and league in general, officiating "points of interest" for the season, and have to have contributions from developing young talent BEFORE their big pay day.

Guess it depends on your definition of blockbuster. Barnes and Porter went to lottery teams. Harris will help the Sixers. The motivation for all of those deals was for the usual purposes of deadline trades: getting under the LT or salary cap or tanking for a rebuild.

When I think blockbuster, I think trades where both teams are moving major assets to try to improve. My understanding around here is that a lot of folks want to see CJ traded for a major player. Those kinds of trades usually happen in December or over the summer. Hardly ever at the deadline because they’re so hard to pull off without disrupting team chemistry.

Still 4.5 hours left. A lot can happen in the last few hours.

I feel like there was a lot of activity last night, which is not the norm for trade deadlines. We shall see.

Agreed. Had Wes not ruptured his achilles, I still maintain that the 2015 squad would have been a contender. All the excellent management and development was derailed by bad luck.

If Neil doesn't make a deal that makes this team better, then that is all on him. Either because he values his own players way too much, or he has put this roster in the position it is in from a contract standpoint with either money, length or both.

There are trades to be made and other teams are making them.

    No more excuses.

Well I guess there dangling Harkless and the 1st. So if that true I see only a modest trade or no trade is done.
