Our most realistic avenue of landing a star without touching our “core”

I’d do this over Love in a second.

Hayward is a double gamble due to the size of the contract and questions about whether he will ever be back to 100%?

One thing, he is playing out of position in Boston. After being a SF all of his career, he is often playing PF. A return to his natural position would IMO serve him well. His shooting is way down but I expect that with a return to SF and going into next season, that could return closer to normal. A career 37% shooter from '3' before his injury, you would think he would trend back towards that from this seasons abysmal .314.

At 28 years old, he fits right into the 'Dame window'.

Oh look another team trying to get better. Must be nice.

We’re all gonna be on our death beds muttering “internal development.”

If Turner is the centerpiece of the trade, I think I'd be willing to take that gamble. His contract is ridic though! Also, if he doesn't come back 100%, is he better than Jake? That's both kinda a serious question and kinda not. I'm posting this screen shot of 2018 Jake vs 2015 Hayward without first having looked at it to see what the numbers look like:

    Worst case scenario imo...

    Hou adds Jordan
    LA adds AD
    Utah adds Conley
    OKC adds Mirotic/Mathews
    Por adds Love or Melo

Layne that is not the worst case scenario the worst case scenario is the BLazers take a gamble on Melo or make a trade to get rid of salary that in the long run hurt the team more then help it.

Wow, I'm scanning through the numbers and didn't expect Jake to compare well at so many data points. Those advanced stats are obviously not in his favor, but his percentages and per games are a lot closer than I expected.

I agree and I think Hayward will get better just with another year away from his injury. And I do not think Tatum is going anywhere, so it might be doable if they get rid of Marcus Smart and his 40% shooting.

I don't think our front office has the guts to do something that risky unfortunately. But is this speculation on your part or something you're hearing?

I’d argue that doing nothing is Portland’s worst case scenario. Yes loves contract is shit, but if he’s healthy he’s a significant upgrade. At least it was an attempt at getting better. I can respect that on some level, even if I don’t want Love on this team.

I just don't see Boston trading him for pennies on the dollar, even with his contract.

As @BonesJones will verify, I PM'd him a few days ago about Boston. No details whatsoever but I was told there was at least contact which you would only expect this time of year.

    Awesome.

Given the risk is mainly financial, I'd do it. Are we even gonna be players in the 2020 FA? Highly doubt it.

If Hayward even reaches 75% of where he was before getting hurt, that makes us a step closer towards contention.

Per Woj, the Knicks, Nets, Clippers and Lakers have 7 Max slots available this summer.

    Holy check writing Batman!

Hayward is repped by Bartlestein aka Olsheys boyfriend so it’s completely believable.
