Come on, he serves a great meal. Is there anything better than hours old fast food french fries or room temperature hamburgers with soggy lettuce? Yum

To me, no Democratic candidate stands out over any of the others. I wouldn't be surprised of Warren emerges as the candidate. Lanny may very well be elated as he shares 1/16th Cherokee heritage with her! :)

I like Warren, but I preferred Pete Buttigieg. Harris, Booker, Castro and Biden were also among my favorites.
I have no idea why you want to dwell on Warren's heritage. Shouldn't you be paying attention to her platform? Do you know her platform?
My the way, just out of curiosity, which Bible passage is your favorite?

Lanny, you know I was kidding, right?

As to the Scripture, two passages come to mind:

Jeremiah 29:11 "'For I Know The Plans I Have For You' Declares the Lord, 'Plans to Prosper You and Not to Harm You, Plans to Give You Hope and a Future.'"

Philippians 4:6-7 "Do not be anxious about anything, but in every situation, by prayer and petition, with thanksgiving, present your requests to God. And the peace of God, which transcends all understanding, will guard your hearts and your minds in Christ Jesus."

    Thank you for asking. :)

I honestly dont care about Warrens heritage but isn’t it brought up because marked down that she was Cherokee, when its a very, very small percentage of her DNA? Im 1/8th Native American Blackfoot tribe, but I consider myself white, the other 7/8ths are all European descent AFAIK.

Im uncomfortable with Warren, I feel like she’s not very authentic, has flipped sides before, and is one of those willing to say anything to get what she wants. I may be reading her wrong, and the good thing about the debates is that its a good chance to clean the slate on those notions and try to get a new perspective on some of these people.

Good lord. Joe Biden is a Fucking MESS. He needs to bow out. I respect the man but my god there is no way he can continue to run and if he wins, lead America.

At least his, lapses(?), dont seem to be deliberately hateful or divisive in nature. Im not a Democrat, but watching someone’s mind slip is really hard on me as it reminds me much of my grandfather before he passed. I hope in the debates and all that, they refrain from trying to make it sound like he’s just a senile old man...

Jill Stein praised Putin while gay people were being imprisoned and tortured and dissidents killed. If I wanted a Putin puppet in the White House I would have voted for Trump.

In 1972 I turned 18 and voted for Linda Jenness, the candidate of the Socialist Workers Party. I campaigned for her to the point of becoming notorious around the (very pro-McGovern) Cal campus. I voted third party up to 2012; as the American socialist leader Eugene Debs said, better to vote for what you want and not get it than vote for what you don't want and get it. @dviss1 I know about voting one's conscience and have no regrets. Starting around 2000 I had increasing divergence with third parties; if I'm going to cast a protest vote it has to be with enthusiasm or it really is a wasted vote.

I have explained before why I chose Clinton in 2016 despite the feeling I'd be protesting some of her policies if she won and see no need to repeat myself.

I watched the Thomas hearings. I saw a line of old white men viciously attack the character and even sanity of an educated, accomplished, poised, modest, church-going conservative black woman. Biden could have stopped it by warning he'd shut off the microphone of any senator who did not treat the witness with respect. He didn't. In fairness, Thomas would not have gotten onto the court without a very slim majority of senators, not just one person. And I remember also a good many people in the African-American community excoriating Hill for "trying to bring down a black man". So we got an unqualified reactionary on the court, who now cries about how persecuted he is. (Like Kavanaugh. Like Trump. What is it about sexual abusers that they whine about being victims?)

But this is not 1972, 1991 or even 2008. It's 2020 and I need to look at what I care most about in 2020.

If you don't like Biden, get off the computer and start working your ass off for a candidate you do like.

I don't want to hear about so-and-so being a "flawed" candidate. All candidates are flawed for the simple reason all humans are flawed. We are electing a president, not a messiah.

Biden is pretty low on my list (Warren my #1). But if he gets the nomination?

A candidate with a definitely mixed past. A candidate with whom I might agree maybe 55% of the time. Someone with a propensity for gaffes but not viciousness. Someone who will appoint sane qualified people. Someone who will work with allies instead of falling in love with Kim Jong Un. Someone capable of compassion.

    Or

A candidate who is a narcissistic sociopathic profoundly stupid white supremacist. A candidate who cares for nothing but his ego and his wealth. A candidate who considers people suffering misfortune to be losers and takes delight in inflicting cruelty. A candidate who opposes democracy. A candidate who lies every time he opens his mouth, then lies about the lies. A candidate who is more outraged by a Saturday Night Live skit than massacres in Texas, California, and Ohio in one week.

So I will vote for what I want, sanity, democracy, reason. Because my cat would make a better president than Trump.

Better to vote for the lesser of two evils than to vote for who you want and to get the greater of the two evils.

Wrong completely. That just leaves it open to others’ interpretations of who is the “lesser of two evils”.

People need to vote for who they want.

Fuck playing strategic games to get the establishment’s darlings in office. The democrats trying to play games is what got Trump in office in the first place.

I don't think that makes any sense. You'd be the one choosing to vote for one of the two evils, so you'd be the one choosing which one was less evil.

Sure. But sometime who people want is someone who will win and not be the greater of all the evils.

Those are two very different sorts of "games". You might as well have said 'Fuck playing Monopoly with your kids, playing games is what put Trump in office'.

In 2016 both major party candidates were widely hated. Yet all the 3rd parties combined got only a small proportion of the vote.

There's no evidence whatsoever that they'll do better this time around.

So, you can cast a vote for a third party in 2020, but the rest of us will decide whether the greater or the lesser evil wins.

People should vote for who they want to vote for. I do agree with you.

For me, I want to vote for a flawed candidate that will win and do some positive things in office, rather than a 3rd party candidate who might be perfect in every way but who will not win and will therefore accomplish nothing in office.

Well, to most of us Trump was and is the greater of two evils.

He got into office by the electoral college and not by the will of the people. I thought that was common knowledge.

It only became common knowledge to Democrats in 2016 apparently. They didn’t seem to mind the electoral college when it worked in their favor all the times before that.
