Gabbard’s office said her visit was approved by the House ethics committee this is a quote from the guardian article sited Initially I hadn’t planned on meeting him,” Gabbard told CNN’s Jake Tapper. “When the opportunity arose to meet with him, I did so, because I felt it’s important that if we profess to truly care about the Syrian people, about their suffering, then we’ve got to be able to meet with anyone that we need to if there is a possibility that we could achieve peace. And that’s exactly what we talked about.” same article
i strongly recommend that you read her own words published as an op-ed in the honolulu star-advetiser. https://gabbard.house.gov/news/in-t...elping-terrorists-fighting-syria-s-government
I remember when he died. Distinguished in WWII, Medal of Honor recipient while serving with the highest decorated unit in WWII, the 442. A true American hero. On the other hand we have an individual who should have received a medal for valor for dodging VD disease during the Vietnam war and playing golf despite having crippled feet.
Anyone that gases women and children needs to be permanently "regime changed." Preferably by a nice cruise missile taking out him and his entire family.
very quiet and truly humble man in my recollections. i think that he was still unfulfilled by his failure to get native hawaiians the same recognition and sovereignty allotted other native american tribal nations through congress.
imho, the states demographics contribute to this. currently they stand at approx 40% asian 25% caucasian 24% mixed race 2 or more 10% native/polenisian/pacific islander 2% black the culture of respect is seen and heard daily, old/young, men/women, family/stranger. it is called "living aloha". it is real. it requires accommodation and compromise. patients, talk story to understand others. it requires an investment of ones own time in that of others. it is very much worth it. edit: almost forgot (stage whisper....and the women run Everything!)
Thanks. I'm no fan of endless wars myself. However, she took a trip to Syria organized and paid for by a pro-Assad organization. If she didn't intend to meet Assad, that at best suggests she's naive. Basically, she's repeating pro-Assad propaganda and believing or pretending it's an objective viewpoint. Maybe all the rebels are in fact terrorists. There probably is some truth to that. But so is Assad - and she didn't have anything negative to say about him. barfo
Democratic Rep. Tulsi Gabbard on Thursday demanded that Syrian President Bashar Assad be "executed" if it is confirmed he ordered the deadly chemical attack earlier this week that killed dozens of Syrian civilians, according to a report. The Hawaiian lawmaker, who met with Assad earlier this year, made that statement on the same day President Trump authorized a missile strike against the airbase from which the chemical attack is believed to have originated, according to Hawaii News Now.

Then we own the resulting fucking chaos by default. If you are going to take on that sort of mess then you must justify it, including the cost of those that will die doing the deed. I find no reason to spend men to fix Syria even when I agree with your feeling. Assad, maybe despicable, so was Hussein in Iraq, but not worse than Isis. Same with the dude we took out in Libya, despicable bastard but better than the animals that killed the Ambassador there. I prefer Trump's logic here, Assad fights Isis there, so why should we fight him? Damn sure time to shuffle to the side when you notice your enemies killing each other. Much better to facilitate this activity than aid the one that is no friend. Despicable or not.
