The $34M is very impressive. The average donation amount is a bogus metric, though, as it is manipulated by people who make multiple small donations. If jonnyboy donates $100 to Bernie 28 times, and sallygirl donates $2800 once to Amy, who is the bigger donor? The answer is sallygirl, because she's actually a 400lb guy on a bed somewhere. barfo
Do you find it plausible that Bernie supporters all have an unspoken agreement to make a large number of small donations? I find it more likely that Bernie actually gets support from a large number of average people.
I don't think it is a conspiracy, but Bernie's campaign does encourage small, repeat donations, it's not exactly a secret. That said, it is also true that he gets donations from a large number of average people. barfo
Bernie only accepts small donations. If you want to give more then you're going to have to make multiple small donations.
I believe he is just opposed to taking donations from billionaires, corporations and lobbyists. If you want to donate a few thousand dollars, you don’t have to do it in $18 increments. Is it so hard to believe that regular working people are supporting Sanders?
